How can i use iCloud with 10.6.8?

I have a old MacBookPro 2GHZ with Intel Core Duo and OSx 10.6.8. On this Mac i can´t upgrade to Lion.

How can i use the iCloud with my MacBook to sync my adressbook and iCal to the iCloud?

I've looked at the Apple pages and I think I've done everything right with both iPhone and iPad. One thing iTunes is registered to xxx@btinternet.com while when I transferred from MobilMe to iCloud, iCloud is registered as xxx@me.com. Tried to change the @me.com address to @btinternet.com by it will not have it or allow me to open another iCloud account.

Don't really know what I can do now 😟

Your migrated MobileMe account is signed into using its email address and will contain your calendars from the account, however the contacts won't have been migrated if you are using Snow Leopard.

You need to be signed into iCloud on all devices with this login. You can continue to use the other login for iTunes - indeed you will need to to get access to your purchased items. There's no problem about using two IDs in this way, but you have to be consistent across all your devices. You can't merge the accounts nor change the @me.com address to something else.

Why did you even bother answering this person? Clearly he KNOWS that he can stay where he is.

I won't be buying a new OS either just to use Icloud.

Also where is Apples easiest to use and easiest to install platform now... it seems that everything Apple is putting out makes life more difficult.

We are not programmers or experts...just folks who bought Apple products because they were all synced and easy to use. That seems to be going away.

Another reason not to purchase a new OS.

I totally agree with Nick2Times. So thanks for nothing.

I had this set up previously but after cleaning out my computer (runing SLOW) my iCal quit working. I have tried setting up a new account to try to make it work again, but it says my user name and password aren't correct. After triple checking, I tried to log in to icloud.com and could log in with my user name and password just fine. This confirmed that I had the correct information. I don't know what could have happened to make it not work any longer. ANY IDEAS????

Hi everybody,

I'm using an early 2008 MacBook under 10.6.8. and also wanted to share my iCal contacts with my other devices.

I found this instruction:

http://sayzlim.net/sync-icloud-contacts-calendar-snow-leopard/

It works fine with iCal; yet I can't tell you if it's also working with the adress book as I'm not at home and so I can't create a "test adress" to see if it works (at least I do not get an error message). I have too many contacts so I can't see if one of them has changed

In iCal the problem seems to be that you need to add a server ID-number like p03 to the server adress (mine was p01); it is discribed how to find out what your specific server ID will be.

Hope it works also on your computer.

Good night from Germany

Calendars certainly can work, I have never seen Contacts work.

However, Calendars will break regularly (system updates often break it) and is kind of a PITA.

If you really need iCloud Calendars and Contacts on 10.6.8 and you can't upgrade to Lion or newer then use Soho Organizer, it works perfectly on 10.6. but it is also $100
