Same issue on my iPad and iPhone, both on 3G. No emails from iCloud get pushed unless the Mail app is running in the background. Even then, a couple of times it still didn't push.

I assume this is another growing pain thing and will be corrected soon enough. For now it seems to basically work with the Mail app running in the BG, which is no big deal to me.

Hopefully Apple will see this problem. Many iPhone 4 users are having faulty push email with iOS 5 and iCloud.

    Including me

    Solution to the problem:

    1 - go into mac www.icloud.com
2 - enter with a different id mobileme, and create a new account for free
    @ me.com
3 - On the iphone, go to mail and add the new account in icloud
    4 - Sync only emails
    5 - Results:
The new icloud account registers our device and everything works fine
6 - "Push" is working again on both counts

This is not a solution if only mail is being pushed.

    Hello everyone,

I talked to several people who represent Apple and they told me:''- This may be a problem with the Apple server, because ofall persons who, at the same time download iOS 5.''

I hope that Apple's servers revidendront to normal or so AppleiOS 5.0.1 that will solve this problem.

PS: On the site of MacGeneration.com (site info Apple) there is an article that says Apple has hired the head of the Data-CenterYahoo!. Yahoo!, which has never had a problem with the data center (servers).

So Apple would have hired to redo it the servers in its own wayand, of course, properly so there ale more beug like this.

The article is on this link. (in French)

it is not apple servers, if that was the case then people would be having problems getting email even while the mail app is running. The problem is with the mail api. once the mail app is closed down for some reason the api that is used to get push while the app is not running gets turned off.

The only way to get emails pushed is to keep the app running in the background. There is no temporary fix or server issues, because if it was a server issues then i wouldnt be getting emails on my mac, but i do.

so until apple sends out an update, just keep the mail app running

It's not the Mail.app either as my gmail push notifications continue to work, however the iCloud (.me) notifications stop working right after Mail.app is closed, which is just strange that my other account (gmail) will continue to give me notifications.

Just to say I am running a iPhone 3Gs and from the get go have had no issues re mail notifications both gmail and me(iCloud) accounts.

So I can not believe it is a server or mail app issue.

Yeah same issue here. All my other mail services are pushing as they should only the mobile me account upgraded to iCloud is experiencing this. I believe it to be an error with the iCloud upgrade on the servers but who knows.
