iOS 5 Bluetooth ford problem

I have a 2011 (UK 11 reg) Ford Mondeo with built in Sony radio with sat nav, Bluetooth and CD. It has been linking fine to my iPhone 4 via Bluetooth both for phone calls and audio as needed running iOS 4. However since upgrading to iOS 5 it won't keeps saying it can't establish data connection, audio breaks up then the phone disconnects intermittently, and the radio no longer displays my phone signal strength which I relied up to know I had a signal.

This is a major pain as I need it to be reliable as it was until recently for work support phone calls. Can anyone please advise how to resolve this? Please don't say take it to my Ford dealer, 1) they will likely have no clue 2) why the **** should I when it's Apple's upgrade which has caused the problem - it was fine before I installed iOS 5.

Another successful install here (Fiesta 2010 standard ford audio). Warning - radio stayed on during update process for me - update took about 10 minutes. I did have to pair the phone which the audio unit prompted me to do right away with the 4 digit passcode. I have the signal strength display back, and the BT audio now displays the track title. Other additions are shuffle play (tested and working), repeat and scan (tested and don't think work) and info button (gives artist, album and track same way as music played via USB). I made a test phone call and worked perfectly.

This self service update runs the same way as Ford USA which I pointed out earlier. Massive thanks to shamu35 for finding link. Also worth noting that the update files were created in June so Ford well ahead of the game which is nice.

My car is in for service tomorrow and they were going to hook the car up to an IDS machine to look for software updates. I will let them know about this!

Now just for the ios5 eating away at battery life.............. sigh 😀

@16mbo.. try in the glove box... thats where mine was...

I installed earlier for my Focus. Sony branded radio and it has completely solved the problem!!

Well done Ford.

HOWEVER I would say the lack of information was an issue. Apple ignored me and the people at Ford did not seem to know anything about this despite an update obviously being on the way.

Hope Ford continue to issue updates in this manner as it was very easy to install, all I'd ask for is a bit of communication. If I had known this update was coming I would not have been on here moaning as much!! 😁
