iOS 5 Bluetooth ford problem

I have a 2011 (UK 11 reg) Ford Mondeo with built in Sony radio with sat nav, Bluetooth and CD. It has been linking fine to my iPhone 4 via Bluetooth both for phone calls and audio as needed running iOS 4. However since upgrading to iOS 5 it won't keeps saying it can't establish data connection, audio breaks up then the phone disconnects intermittently, and the radio no longer displays my phone signal strength which I relied up to know I had a signal.

This is a major pain as I need it to be reliable as it was until recently for work support phone calls. Can anyone please advise how to resolve this? Please don't say take it to my Ford dealer, 1) they will likely have no clue 2) why the **** should I when it's Apple's upgrade which has caused the problem - it was fine before I installed iOS 5.

Go to the Ford sync site, they have a update that will fix the problem, it worked for me. My iPhone 4 would not download contacts to my Ford truck. You can download the fix and the instructions. My screen did not do what the instructions said it would, so I let the thing sit for the required 20 minutes, then followed directions to complete. Now no problems paring or downloading contacts.

Same hassles for me in Australia with a 2009 Ford Mondeo Titanium Hatch. I have praised the integration of my iPhone ever since I bought this car. It works so much better than BMW, Benz and Audi. Now with IOS5, that has all gone to pot!

Constant hassles, no outbound names shown, call cant hang up, can't reconnect etc etc. I have to reboot audio system by holding down power button for 20 seconds, then restart iPhone. If I am lucky, it will reconnect after I have deleted the device from my Bluetooth list and then paired it again.

It is a nightmare!! I have taken it to my Ford dealer. They are aware of issue and have approached Apple for a fix, but getting nowhere.

It is only a matter of time before someone crashes their car whist trying to fix this on the move! Merely touching the phone while driving is illegal so Apple MUST fix this NOW. It is a very serious issue!!

Not happy!!

Its getting ridiculous now - why do people bother posting in this thread without reading it first???!

GO TO THIS LINK http://www.ford-mobile-connectivity.com/downloadsUpdates AND FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS. DO NOT POST HERE UNLESS YOU HAVE A ***FORD*** WITH A NEW PROBLEM!

In case anyone has a 2010 or later Ford with a reversing camera:

After doing this update the reversing camera in my 2010 UK Ford Fiesta stopped working. My Ford dealer fixed it. The issue was (I am told) that there is also an update for the reversing camera software that customers cannot apply themselves. This is a warranty job and you will be covered.

"Ianfromsittingbourne" as the original poster can you please update the "correct answer" to one of the many many posts giving the link to the fix or this thread will go on forever...

I have tried this several time with my car, following the instructions to the letter but when I insert the USB stick into the connector in the car, nothing happens. The update does not run.

My car is a Ford Mondeo 2.0litre diesel Titanium Hatch, built May 2009. It does not have the audio unit shown in

http://www.ford-mobile-connectivity.com/downloadsUpdates .It has a Sony unit, without GPS.

Has anyone managed to get this update to work on a similar car? If so, how, please!!

Thanks andrewfromlisboa!!

I had extracted the files to the USB disk, but all it did was extract it to a new folder called 'ford_audio_update'. I deleted this folder and then simply copied and pasted the 21 individual files to the USB disk, inserted it again into the drive in the car and it started to run straight away.

It now appears to be fixed with all of the added functionality of the IOS5 update. It's a shame my Ford Dealer was not aware of this..but they will be on Monday!

Thanks so much again for your help!

Hi,

I have a 2009 (UK 09) Ford Focus Zetec with the Audio pack which includes the Blaupunkt Sat Nav and bluetooth.

My iPhone 3GS was working well with vluetooth etc until the infamous iOS 5 update.

I have downloaded the Ford bluetooth update and extracted the files to the root directory of various USB sticks of different sizes and with different formats (FAT, FAT32 etc)

Each time I first turn on the radio, insert the USB stick in the socket in the central armrest/console, then turn the ignition to position II.

I get the message that BVC is updating then I get "BVC device update failed. Please try again"

Using the Set+Navigation trick I have determined that my Radio firmware version is 0828-090731, but I don't know how to find out the bluetooth version.

Has anyone else seen this message and then managed to get it working? If so How??

Any other ideas will be gratefully received.

Thanks.

I think people need to understand why the issues occor. Apple has updated the bluetooth stack apparently to 'comply with standards' but from what I understand and have read on these forums and others, in the process it has broken compatibility with non compliant units? I don't consider my stereo from 2009 as 'old'! My car isn't even 3 years old yet!

I have a 59 plate Fiesta Zetec S with the top end Ford stereo, not the Sony one. And after I have update to the latest iOS 5 after about 5 or 10 mins of play of audio I get breaking audio then it cuts out, I have to select another source then back to bluetooth for it to carry on playing only to get teh exact same fault repeat. And I'm sorry to say but from what I have seen and read, Apple is amongst the worst manufacturers for bluetooth stack support. Endless problems with it.

I have updated the Ford stereo software, Ford posted it on there website, now I don't get the bluetooth audio error but I still loose bluetooth connectivity. Now I love my Apple products, but after upgrading to Lion and iOS5 I feel like I'm in blotaware and bugwear nightmare!! But with so many different audio makes and cars being affected, this IS an Apple problem in my opinion.

I've scanned over this thread but haven't seen the answer to my question...

Does this upgrade fix the contact list order? The settings on my IPhone are to sort: First Name, Last Name; display: First Name, Last Name....but my sony contacts list is always Last Name: First Name which is extremely annoying.

If this is covered somewhere else could you give me a clue...

Thanks in advance...Neil

Yesterday, I checked the bluetooth software version of my audio system and I have the latest. The problem you mention, is not included in this package software. At least in the mine. The mine is FORD brand.

If the yours is a SONY audio equipment, you must have a look into the SONY webpage or similar because FORD is nothing to do with it. What I am saying are news coming from FORD technical service center.

I hope this help.
