iOS 5 Bluetooth ford problem

I have a 2011 (UK 11 reg) Ford Mondeo with built in Sony radio with sat nav, Bluetooth and CD. It has been linking fine to my iPhone 4 via Bluetooth both for phone calls and audio as needed running iOS 4. However since upgrading to iOS 5 it won't keeps saying it can't establish data connection, audio breaks up then the phone disconnects intermittently, and the radio no longer displays my phone signal strength which I relied up to know I had a signal.

This is a major pain as I need it to be reliable as it was until recently for work support phone calls. Can anyone please advise how to resolve this? Please don't say take it to my Ford dealer, 1) they will likely have no clue 2) why the **** should I when it's Apple's upgrade which has caused the problem - it was fine before I installed iOS 5.

I have the same problem with my 2010 VW passat RCD510.

The car kit can see the name of telephone. Once I try to connect, after a while it replies "Mobile phone is not compatible". I asked Car servise and apple store. No one is aware of that problem. Is that reason to throw this new 4s from 16th floor? Or wait for Apple's feedback?

Does anyone have an experience? Pls help.

Just had my car into the garage today with regards to the IOS 5 update (only had the car a few weeks)...it has stopped my radio working and i am getting no sound out of my speakers...Ford have reset all the software on the car & have had to uninstall the phone (iphone 4) and so not use the one of the functions that i bought the car for!!! what a waste of money, the ford garage are aware of the issue but say that the system in the fords is made by NOKIA & APPLE are not willing on letting them have the software update to make their audio systems work correctly!!!! Wish I had got a Nokia Phone now!!! If they keep this up then I wont be renewing my contract with another iphone when it runs out!

the ford garage is ford stoneacres and I had no idea that this is what was causing the problem they said they have reset the car and put latest software on it, but not to connect the phone again for a few days, I havnt reconnected it yet also I wasn't aware that your car allows you to play audio through the bluetooth, what can I do if it happens again? Just keep taking it back to be reset?

I am surprised that such a large Dealer Group like Stoneacres are apparently so clueless. SUggestingg not to connect your phone again for a few days is just a joke!

Please have a look at my previous posts back around November 24 2011 and you will see how I fixed it using the previouly mentioned download. Several other of my friends with Mondeos had the same issue and this fix worked for them.

After 4 months, my phone often does still not auto connect, but simply turn off the radio unit, wait 10 seconds and turn it on again and it will connect. I know that's not perfect, but it is not that much hassle until it gets fixed properly. The phone and audio now work perfectly, the song titles are shown on the display etc etc.

It is amazing that Ford globally ( I am in Sydney) have still not got this message out to their dealers. I even put the software on a USB stick and took it to my local dealer, told them what to do and they were very greatful. They have now fixed dozens of cars with it.

Good luck with it...maybe refer Stoneacres to this discussion thread!

You think that's bad, come to the U.S... Car dealers have a reputation for being completely clueless, conniving, theiving sharks... for good reason.

I honestly don't know if it's a matter of Ford not getting the message out to the dealers, or the dealers being too dense to understand or care.

Please stop talking fud. The fault IS with the phone, Apple has had a reputation since the first iPhone of implementing poor Bluetooth stacks programming in iOS. I can point to many Ford forums that highlight the Bluetooth fault with iPhones ONLY, other handsets are fine.

Apple has to fix this fault, not Ford or BMW or Renault or Citroen as they have all had issues too.
