iOS 5 Bluetooth ford problem

I have a 2011 (UK 11 reg) Ford Mondeo with built in Sony radio with sat nav, Bluetooth and CD. It has been linking fine to my iPhone 4 via Bluetooth both for phone calls and audio as needed running iOS 4. However since upgrading to iOS 5 it won't keeps saying it can't establish data connection, audio breaks up then the phone disconnects intermittently, and the radio no longer displays my phone signal strength which I relied up to know I had a signal.

This is a major pain as I need it to be reliable as it was until recently for work support phone calls. Can anyone please advise how to resolve this? Please don't say take it to my Ford dealer, 1) they will likely have no clue 2) why the **** should I when it's Apple's upgrade which has caused the problem - it was fine before I installed iOS 5.

Ok, out of 23 pages of this thread... I don't think I found anyone saying that the problem still existed after a successful update. So I don't know what you mean with "me", "and others". I myself did the update and after that it has never had a problem streaming.

But if you say that the problem needs to be fixed from Apple... go ahead... wait for them to fix it. While you are waiting, me and everybody else that posted previously will be streaming music via bluetooth through the fix that Ford provided.

Ok apolloa69, you wait for Apple, for everybody else: (reposting a previous posters guide)

This is the process I followed

******************************************************************************** **
1. Download the software from ford provided link. http://www.ford-mobile-connectivity.com/downloadsUpdates
2. Extract zip file into the top level of the USB device. When you extract the zip file, all the files are in one folder named "ford_audio_update" but I took all the files out of the folder and put them in the top level of the USB device.
3. Turn the bluetooth function off on my mobile.
4. Went to car.

5. Turn the radio on (Don't turn ignition or engine)

6. While radio is on, Insert USB device in which I put the software from ford.

7. Turn iginition on (Don't turn engine) and made sure I don't press brake pedal.
8. I saw the car audio monitor says "updating...." but still the radio was on.
9. Waited for about 20 mins and saw there is no "updating" message displayed in the car audio monitor.

10. Turn the radio off once and disconnect USB.
11. Turn on engines.
12. Pair my iPhone again since it seems like all has reset automatically by this software update so there was no past record of Bluetooth devices.

13. DONE!!!!!!!!!!!! Now I can listen to the music in the car again.

I have a 2011 Ford Kuga and iPhone 4 with iOS5. I can confirm that the Ford Audio Update fixes just about all of the issues with my built in iPod player and BT connection. I also no longer require the awkward and expensive Ford Audio cable - I just use my standard iPhone USB connector - hooooorah!

The only well documented issue is that I have to reboot the system everytime I start the car so that it "sees" my iPhone

Otherwise, a good effort from Ford

Hello there,

I have a Renault Grand Scénic III car.

As I reported on another thread, since iOS5.0, I was suffering about Bluetooth audio streaming (A2DP) with pauses, lag and bad user experience as most of the Ford users were facing.

Renault never deployed any car radio firmware upgrade.

Finaly, with iOS5.1 deployed on 2012/03/07, everything get fixed and I can now enjoy back the Bluetooth audio streaming in my car.

For me, there is no doubt about a regression in betweeen iOS4.x and iOS5.0 when it comes about Bluetooth.

Finaly, Apple fixed it with iOS5.1.

Whatever we are Apple fan's or just Apple users, we must admit that Apple is not genius, and sometimes makes software bugs...

The important was to solve them!

Regards

Just to confuse things further my iphone 4 worked fine with the latest IOS 4 and the Ford Bluetooth.

But then when I updated the Ford software as detailed on here I got the bluetooth auto-connect issue, I tend to go into the phone menu on the headunit and turn Bluetooth off and on again rather than turning the radio off.

Changing to IOS 5 hasn't fixed it. I've tried re-applying the Ford software update but it comes up that I'm already using the latest level software.

Pulling the Audio Unit fuse to reset it hasn't made any improvement either.

Maybe IOS5.1 will be better?
