iOS 5 Bluetooth ford problem

I have a 2011 (UK 11 reg) Ford Mondeo with built in Sony radio with sat nav, Bluetooth and CD. It has been linking fine to my iPhone 4 via Bluetooth both for phone calls and audio as needed running iOS 4. However since upgrading to iOS 5 it won't keeps saying it can't establish data connection, audio breaks up then the phone disconnects intermittently, and the radio no longer displays my phone signal strength which I relied up to know I had a signal.

This is a major pain as I need it to be reliable as it was until recently for work support phone calls. Can anyone please advise how to resolve this? Please don't say take it to my Ford dealer, 1) they will likely have no clue 2) why the **** should I when it's Apple's upgrade which has caused the problem - it was fine before I installed iOS 5.

I have a Ford KA 2010 reg, UK and it is my first car. I have an Iphone 3gs running ios 5.1 and the audio sync does not work. Calling made from the car works just fine however whenever I try to select any audio option regarding my iphone, the system replies with "No Media Found". I looked on the website for the upgrade with the Ford system however in the small text is says "update not applicable for KA users". Is there anyone who knows what to do for this situation or does anyone know of anywhere else which mught have any solutions. Many Thanks in advance

Regards

OK, here i smy situation.

I have just got hold of a Fiesta Titanium on an 09 plate.

I paired my iPhone 4 (OS5.1) and all seemed fine. Could make calls, recevie calss, phonebook etc. I came to play music on my iPhone, selected my iPHine in the Audio section of the car's menu. All looked good - but got no music. My iPhine said it was using Ford Audio, my car said it was using iPhone but no music.

I took it into Ford yesterday who did the update. CAn still make calls etc etc but now when I go to Audio in the car's menu it does not see my iPhone. My iPhone does not give me the little icon to choose between Ford Audio or iPhone for playback 😕

I'm going to call them again tomorrow but does anyone have a clue. I am going to try another phone in there tonight hopefully to see if that works.

BTW I don't have the USB connection, only the Aux In

Cheers

Are you sure you can make calls vis the radio? Sounds like your bluetooth has not been re-enabled either on your ohone or on the radio. Trawl through the settings menus on the radio and see if the bluetooth has been accidentally switched off. Of course, all of this is irrelevant if you are already paired and making calls properly.

Alternatively if you hold the on/off button on the radio for 30 secs, it reboots the radio which may help.

Thanks for the replies.

jockblue1: 100% can recevie and make calls, caller ID comes up on the screen and everything is fine. Just the music not working. I will give the 30 second button hold a try - thanks for that.

woodmeister50: I use the Music app but I do not get the icon that allows me to select the audio output device. Before I had the update done by Ford there was a little icon in the bottom right hand corner. If I pressed it I got the options iPhone or Ford Audio - Ford Audio was always selected. I do not have the USB feature as my car is one of the earlier models.

I have now read that the music feature may not be supported because I do not have the Ford Bluetooth/USB module (I have an early Aux port only version). I would have thought that the dealership would have known that though !!

Hi to everyone...

I have the same problem... It suddenly stop working after upgrading to iOS 5.0, 5.0.1, 5.1...

I think that the problem is that Ford Audio detects iPhone like two devices: one like a multimedia audo and other like a phone. If you see the front display of Sony radio there is an icon like a circle and, in Phone it shows 2 quarters and, on bluetooth audio shows the other 2 quarters... I think that this icon shows de audio capabilities of a bluetooth device. Maybe the Ford Audio detects iPhone like two different devices and tries to connect to both, so, when it connects to the phone, it works, but when it tries to connect to audio device it disconnects the phone connection because the Mac address of both devices are the same. I think that iOS bluetooth stack hangs or disconnect abruptly the other connection and the that it's the problem.

Maybe I don't explain very well. Sorry about my english...

Hi Mark,

I have a 2010 Fiesta Trend (South African model) and can confirm that you only get Bluetooth audio streaming with models that have a USB port. I can only use Bluetooth for phone functions.

I am still on iOS 4.3.5 because of this whole Bluetooth thing. Last time I checked my local dealer did not even now about the Bluetooth problems nor the update. I would really like to update to iOS 5 but just can't take the chance...

Hope this helps

I have a similar radio to Mark, mine does not have a usb input only the AUX, so I don't think I can update it myself.

I have a 59 Focus Zetec.

I thought it was normal for nothing to play from my iphone to the radio via bluetooth. I have one very, very annoying thing which is everytime I get in and start my car, the phone connects to the radio via bluetooth and automatically starts playing to the car. Nothing comes from speakers, but obviously the battery is getting drained on my iphone. I have tried everything to stop it. It even opens the iPod app up as I always make sure it is closed.

If any one has any suggestions to stop this, I would greatly apreciate it.

Can't find anything in either the phone or head unit settings.
