iOS 5 Bluetooth ford problem

I have a 2011 (UK 11 reg) Ford Mondeo with built in Sony radio with sat nav, Bluetooth and CD. It has been linking fine to my iPhone 4 via Bluetooth both for phone calls and audio as needed running iOS 4. However since upgrading to iOS 5 it won't keeps saying it can't establish data connection, audio breaks up then the phone disconnects intermittently, and the radio no longer displays my phone signal strength which I relied up to know I had a signal.

This is a major pain as I need it to be reliable as it was until recently for work support phone calls. Can anyone please advise how to resolve this? Please don't say take it to my Ford dealer, 1) they will likely have no clue 2) why the **** should I when it's Apple's upgrade which has caused the problem - it was fine before I installed iOS 5.

This is the arrogance of Apple, guys.

They update the software, they made a mistake but now they say that it is others' problem. Rather than just release a minor update with the possibility to step back to original bluetooth basic functionalities they prefer to say that Ford, Renault and all other car manufacturers have to follow their upgrade to iOS5.

This is insane. And quite stupid, I would say.

I continue receiving notifications of people from this forum complaining about what Apple did, but I have never had the pleasure to read a single answer from Apple people.

I have to congratulate Apple, tough: despite their total absence of attention to customers' needs, they are still squeezing a lot of money from them.

This is really magic, as they say.

This is something that needs sorting ASAP, Music aside using the phone in the car is something I need and obviously it is against the law to drive while holding the phone so I therefore rely on the Bluetooth connection. It was working perfectly well until ios5...

SORT IT OUT APPLE or at least tell us that you are aware of the issue

Just to update guys, i have been into my dealership today and they are aware of the problem, they disconnected my battery and rebonded the device, still getting the error message when skipping through songs but at least i can answer my calls. All they did was disconnect the -ive and pressed the sterio power button 10 times, reconnected the -ive after 15 minutes and i had bluetooth! he said when if it happenes again to go in and they would look about updateing the bluetooth in the car. Temp fix but better than nothing!!! Naughty Apple!

I upgraded a 3GS to iOS5 and now the phone will not connect to my 2011 Ford Edge, with iOS4 it worked just fine buy Apple did something to mess it up and should be responsible to resolve the issue. Seeing alot of posts on the Ford boards, but no fix from Ford it seems. Seems like Apple was aware of this issue in reading the posts at the beta stage and did nothing to fix it. My phone is constantly searching withbluetooth such that I had to turn it off completely.

Few days ago I mentioned that, after ios 5 update, my car phone book was incomplete (contacts only from A to M).

I discovered the problem: ALL the contacts were doubled into the memory of the iphone and the TomTom can import only 1000 contacts.

I manually deleted the dublures and the car has now all the contacts (A to Z) into its memory.

Of course, this is not solving bluetooth issues of the ios 5 (the phone was blocked during the call twice until now) but, at least, I cannot blame Apple for the missing contacts (I can blame them for doubling within the update process 😝).

Of course it has been supported to connect the iPhone to a Mac: That's how tethering over bluetooth is supposed to work. You can read the instruction on how to do it when you go to personal hotspot in the iPhones settings. However, filetransfer via bluetooth has never been supported by the iPhone.

I have done this before upgrading to iOS 5 and it used to work. Not anymore...

So I talked to someone at my local Apple Store last night, and he said that Apple is "aware of the Bluetooth issue and that a lot of people are having the same problem and are complaining about it." According to him, Apple is releasing another update for IOS 5 in the next week or so to help with the Bluetooth issue and many of the other "glitches" that many people are experiencing.

Hopefully he is correct and within the next few weeks it can all be taken care of.

Well that's the most positive sign I've heard so far of Apple actually acting on this to resolve the problems people all over the world are obviously having with iOS5 and bluetooth. I do hope it's accurate - since this happened I've been checking for updates at least daily in the vain hope there will actually be one that fixes it.

For what it's worth I popped into the Bluewater Apple store in Greenhithe, Kent (a key outlet for them) and the guy I asked was clueless on it - admittedly about a week ago now - and offered no practical help at all. I shall have to search the internet again, because this forum reply is the first I've heard of Apple even acknowledging there's an issue. It seems the bluetooth issue has been present since the beta versions, which is when problems are meant to be resolved prior to global release... Seems like a significant issue detrimental to the actual PHONE'S function, which absolutely should have been fixed prior to releasing iOS5.

For what it's worth I count myself as an Apple devotee; I own a Mac Mini, a MacBook Air, an iPad 1, an iPhone 4 and an iPod Classic 160Gb. This issue and Apple's lack of appropriate response has seriously dented my confidence, enough to make me consider if my Android owning mates might actually have a point, if the thing actually works for phone calls as it's supposed to. Honestly it is typical Apple arrogance to force progress by introducing new standards and technology e.g. a new bluetooth protocol, and leave everyone else to deal with their equipment not working with it, even if doing so inconveniences the rest of the world for months on end!

Same problem here. I own a 2010 Ford Focus and my iphone was perfectly working with it via bluetooth but this iOS5 update completetly broke it, I can listen to music and have calls delivered for the first minutes but after that it comes up with a "read error" message and completely mutes. The only way to fix it is to switch off the iphone then restart it again and it will work for some more minutes. Apple please FIX THIS, this is crap, how could you ship this OS if you were aware of this problems during the beta trials? I can't believe this.

Steve please come back and fix this!
