I need an iWeb alternative

So since iweb and mobile me are being discontinued I need a new alternative. Does anyone know a website builder that works like iweb? With the same building style. Also is it possibe to transfer my iweb file to the new website builder so I don't have to start over. I have put a lot of time and hard work into my website and I don't want to try to remake it. I have a godaddy domain so would I use godaddy to publish my site? Or is there something better?

My site is: http://www.josephtubb.com

Thanks

An interesting and helpful discussion. Does anyone have experience with awordpress? From what I could gather, it seemed like a good blog/web site tool with a very large community behind it. Is it a possible option if iWeb stops working at some point? I did like the simplicity of iWeb but I am not, nor do I want to be, a sophisticated user. The best thing for me wasn't iWeb itself... It was the ability to get help in person via One-on-One or Personal Project slots at the Apple store. Thanks if anyone can offer any insights.

Personally I like WordPress and have created several blogs using it, but more recently have created a new website using it. I use the Wordpress.org version rather than the .com version - the .org version is what is known as a CMS or Content Management System along with the likes of Joomla and Drupal. You need a server/host that provides extras that you can install with one click and you can add extra things with plugins etc.

It is very easy to use and I have to say that I like WordPress. It is easy to use and you don't need to have any knowledge of html or css and you can get various templates and install them and modify them to suit your needs. It is also easier to use than either Joomla or Drupal.

Wordpress, basically, is not a web design tool. Its a content management system (CMS) designed for creating blogs.

You can create a website with Wordpress, as thousands of people do, but its not really a viable replacement for an app like iWeb.

If you want to create individual looking websites, you would be better to use a web design app. If you want to include a blog, consider using Google's Blogger. Its advantage over Wordpress is that it automatically creates a mobile compatible version.

Has anyone had any experience with Sandvox? Their site is http://www.karelia.com/sandvox/

Like a lot of people, I have enjoyed the ease of creating a site with iWeb (www.truenatureretreat.com) and hate to see it going. Although my site has continued to function quite well, I know that I need to choose a new option. Sandvox at least promises to be "as easy to use as the Mac"

Any suggestions or comments are appreciated.

Thanks Jeff. Any comments on Rapidweaver? I've been playing with that, Sandvox and Wordpress a bit to feel them out. None of them are as easy as to use as iWeb, of course. I particularly like the visuals of Nick Cates's themes for Rapidweaver, but really don't have a clue how any of these (Rapidweaver,Sandvox,Wordpress) function as effective business tools. Is one better than another for seo? Each seems to have its own particularities/challenges and limitations as far as desigining the site, but the end products seem to be beyond what iWeb is.

I honestly have not done alot with Rapidweaver.

I use wordpress for my blog & currenly my site is done with iWeb but, I am seriously leaning towards Adobe Muse for my iWeb replacement needs. This may be more expensive than other Apps as it is subscription based.

RageSW is also working on an App called EasyWeb (which it does work similarly to iWeb) but, is still in beta testing & I am unsure of pricing or when it's going to be available

I need an iWeb alternative
