GPS Not Working in iOS5

Ever since i updated to iOS 5, navigation apps like Sygic and Nagignon are reporting that they are unable to get GPS signal. These apps were working just fine before the update.

Even other apps like Foursquare and Gowalla are completely off ... the only thing that seems to be working is Maps but its not able to identify current location correctly.

Its rather frustrating to see paid apps especially Sygic not working ...

I did your suggestion on my 1st Gen iPad this morning, ironically, both GPS on my iPhone 4S & iPad 1st Gen came up "Cannot Determine Location".

Took around 5 minutes or less on my iPad.

My iPhone took longer about 10 minutes, so my advise, go get a cup of tea and relax, once it's found your position, then it's all back in working order.

Both are now working fine, thank you.

Hi, this seemed to fix it for me right away! First, I installed the app "GPS Info!" Its a FREE app, not to be confused with GPS Info whish is not free.

Before

Updates every 5 to 30 seconds

Accuracy up to 200 m in every direction (Which is huge)

After your fix,

Update every second or less

Accuracy up to 5 m in every direction.

Thanks again. Tomorow, I'm going on a road trip and we'll see if Waze works properly.

I've tried everything, apple staff, almost everything.

Installed new OSX Mountain Lion on my Mac, hoping this may solve my issues.

It didn't. My paid Sat Nav looses signal constantly for anything from 30seconds to 20mins, this is mirrored by Google maps and the other free sat nav app.

Apple have one more chance with the new IOS... then it's ebay for all my apple mobile devices..

FED UP.

I see, sorry - my crappy use of english ! I'm not referring to you guys as 'apple staff' !!! I've just asked everyone and tried everything.

My problem all stems from an update (ios that is) but I'm willing to try anything and had hoped the mountain lion update may 'jump start' a cure when finally synced.

Other than that I've tried every sane piece of advice i've been offered since Nov 2011. I've lost count of the variations of resetting and so on...

Hi,

I have an old Iphone 3GS 16GB, clearly out of warranty, recently the GPS suddenly stopped working, I searched the web , tried every possible solution including fresh restore, and resetting all the settings, this that and other, well nothing worked, the phone was able to triangulate the location via phone towers but the GPS would just not get the fix. After doing lot of research, I took my chances, opened the phone removed the Ribbon Cable connector 6 which is the GPS Antenna and just put it back again. restarted the phone and viola. My GPS is back to life, locks within seconds as before. So basically due to a fall, the connector connecting the GPS antenna had come off and i just put the connection back again. There are several guides on IFixit and Youtube to show you how to do this. Dont attempt it yourself unless you have proper tools and skills to do so as you may simply break the cable and brick your phone. Cheers
