icloud control panel for windows xp.

There are a vast number of MobileMe users who now cannot migrate to iOS 5 and the icloud service because they are using Windows XP.

Please Apple, consider writing a Windows XP icloud control panel.

Yes you are right, why would anyone install iOS5 without compatibility with a significant number of Windows XP users... It is useless without iCloud which is one of the main features of iOS5!!! 😮

Ideally, you want to use the iCloud Control Panel on your Win7 OS. The reason is that it is 100% compatible right now and will continue to be in future updates. The XP "hack" while working (mostly) is not garunteed to do so in the future. An update could potentially break the whole enchilada. So I would advise migrating the stuff you wish to use with iCloud to your Win7 partition.

Interesting question. Strictly speaking, iCould is a web based service but the iCould Control Panel is not. You can, of course, install it on the Win7 partition and leave your music on XP but there are two points to consider.

1) The music you have on your XP will not benefit from iTunes Match or iTunes in the Cloud.

2) You may have to have iTunes installed on Win7 as a prequisite for installing iCould Control Panel but I am not 100% on this. It does not mean that you have to use iTunes in Win7.

I don't know what you are doing to need both OS's but, for what it is worth, here is what I would do in your case. I would install iTunes on Win7 then copy your library from XP as well as your pictures folder. Then I would install iCloud Control Panel on both Win7 and XP. The benefit is, of course, than you can keep your two partitions more or less up to date. Further, when and if you decide to migrate to Win7 permenantly, at least the apple stuff you wouldn't have to worry about migrating.

Admittedly, that is more work but short of migrating exclusively to Win7, that is the only way I can think of te really utilize iCloud to its full potential. Again, it is up to you to determine which features you want and how badly you want them.

Thanks for the special install version, the install works, but I have still a problem.

I installed it on my professional computer under XP as well as on my personnal one under Vista. The app can be launched on both computers, and it seems to work correctly on the Vista one. However, on XP version, when trying to log in Icloud, the app returns an error (unable to connect due to server error - it is not the exact wording as I have the message in French). Is anyone has already encountered and solve this issue ? Thanks in advance.

Note that the aim is to sync my outlook profesionnal calendar with Icloud in order to push it easily to my iphone and ipad. For the moment, I can only sync my "i-devices" by cable with this computer in order to get outlook 2007 information (calendar and contacts). The problem is that my ical and outlook imported calendar cannot be merged, and only my ical is pushed on icloud... So, if someone has a direct solution, It will be a great help for me.
