Also consider that if you are using Windows XP consider that you are using a 11 year old OS that is no longer supported by Microsoft. It is also 3 Operating Systems out of date.

I think you will find that Windows XP is still suported by Microsoft, and will be until Apirl 2014.

so I have downloaded the icloud.msi file (and verified the info is correct with orca). when I run icloud.msi, I get the message 'iCloud Control Panel requires Apple Mobile Device Support to be installed' and then informs me that it is included with iTunes 10.5 or higher. I am running iTunes 11.0.1.12. I have gone into services under admin tools and it shows Apple Mobile Device 'started'; I've stopped and restarted it. I'm running Windows XP SP3. Any suggestions how to fix this?

Windows XP SP3 doesn't support iCloud Control Panel for Windows. Windows Vista SP2 or Later iCloud: System requirements
