Alright after some testing I seem to be doing pretty good.

100 percent when I woke up at 8:30am.

Moderate use texting and Phone calls and all standby since then.

An hour subway ride listening to music and playing

I am at 65%. That doesn't seem too bad as it is already 1145.

SOLUTION: I turned off automatic diagnostic.

This saved me a drastic burn of battery... Slowed the beast but as I type this out and use Internet and some voice jus down to 62. Seems excessive for 5 minutes but not crazy.

I posted earlier in this forum, I had my battery die after sitting in a movie I am not sure what you mean reference? I was doign research on a similar macrumors forum Batterygate and it was listed as one thing as a possible fix.

It seems to have stemmed some of the battery flow for me. I also looked at the sheer amount of data being sent to apple and it may be that the new phone sends more reports.

Another update after speaking with apple. The tech service guy told me a drop of 1-2 percent while not doing anything is a battery hardware problem. He sent me in to get a new phone and I have that now. So apple replaced it because it would drain for no reason. I went to the store and they said my battery w working properly which is wasn't.

The turning off of the auto diagnostic helped me before my replacement and I am going to see what my new phone is like.

I will keep everyone posted. At least the issue has started making the rounds of the Internet.

I was having the same issues. The battery was draining 3-5% every 5 minutes.

It looks like it has stabilized after I calibrated the battery. Fully drained and then fully charged. A few hard reboots after turning some of the services off. I have iCloud on with Cal and Contacts turned on. Regular texting, emailing and surfing seem to be fine over 3g. Some location services are on, like maps and SIRI.

Seems fine now, but i'll still carry a charger around. Especially, if i plan on playing a few games now and then.

How do you calibrate the battery? Fully drain then fully charge? I am having the same problem with battery life and I havve already had my phone replaced because when I got it on Friday the cameras didn't work. i really don't want to be forced to the Genius Bar again even though those guys are terriffic. I've disabled all of the services I can including sending info to Apple to see what happens but while I've been at the computer for 20 minutes my battery has gomne from 46 to 42%.

I've sent a complaint to Apple about this. I hope it doesn't continue becaue it's as bad as the 3Gs.
