I FIX MY BATTERY PROBLEM FOR MY IPHONE 4/S
Guess what. It's all about the Sim Card. I took out my Sim card from my iPhone and notice it had some scratch on the Sim card. So I replace it and now I have no more battery drain on my phone. Up to par as my iPhone 4 was. Wow it was that easy.
PS: If your sim card is damage is some way that the problem.
Here is a video telling why.
I was having same issue. Wifes 4s - no problem. Mine- Burning 2% of battery per minute doing little. Phone was hot as **** too. Two things I have done- seems now fixed. And I dont need to turn off all my features. Thanks boards! 1. Found a response about restarting phone in restore mode, while hooked to itunes- hold down both sleep and home, then release sleep. Once iphone is recognized by iTunes, restore. Then: 2. set up as a new phone- NOT from your old (mine was 3GS) phone settings. Viola! I have had my phone on about 6 hours now, all features on, lost 2% of battery. Try this before taking your phone back. Serious. MAC LOVE!
I am having battery issues, and i remember the restore fix did help on my iphone 4 last year. Can someone remind me the consequences as far as losing data, saving i need to do before restoring, etc?
Yep same problem here! Lost about 20-30% in an hour of mild usage, even turned off for about 30 minutes during that period. Called tech support, she told me it sounded like a bad battery and said I should take into an Apple store. Took it in to the store, he told me to go home and restore the phone. So I did so. The battery life improved a bit, but I'm still dropping about 10% of the power every 90 minutes WITHOUT using it (on stand by) or about 10-15% per hour with mild usage (reminders, web browsing, no video). Actually, the my old 3G got much better usage.
So frustrated with the poor battery life, I decided to do a restore and setup as new. I installed only a few apps, and added my Exchange account. Unfortunately, battery life is still exactly the same, and the phantom usage is still there. So this does not appear to be a "restore from backup" issue as has been suggested.
I did a full restore, set up as new phone, etc. last night, and no improvement. I talked to our CIO this morning - who is an absolute tech wizard - and he said that the bug has been identified and an update will be coming soon. Some process running in the background that's screwing things up. He started talking lingo i didn't understand. Just FYI.
I'm having the battery-not-completely-charging problem, too. I'd love to know that Apple is aware of this and that they're working on a solution. I have one foot already out the door to replace my iPhone 4S, but if there's a software solution coming that would be much better than exchanging my phone for a new one.
Does anyone know for sure if this can or will be fixed soon with an iOS update? Should I wait for a software fix or should I just replace my phone?

Same problem here. I did a clean install of my 4S, so it has nothing to do with restoring from a previous phone. I had my phone plugged in all night charging. This morning at 6am it was only 97% charged. Still plugged in it is now at 96%over an hour later. It is draining even while charging!!!
Apple: HELP>>
If my guy says he knows the deal and there's a software fix coming, take it to the bank. He said to stop wasting time trying to mess with settings. will not do any good. *****.
Mine charges to 100% most nights, but I've seen both 94% and 96% "full" charges on a few occasions.
I have to say a few things here:
1) There MIGHT be a software bug, depending on what settings you turn on. But this "bug" is not affecting everyone (hence why I think it could be related to a particular feature).
2) Whatever the bug might be, there are plenty of people I know, including myself, who actually "fixed" the battery issue by following various recommendations.
3) It seems the most effective way to solve this issue at the moment is to turn off most location based features (especially the reminder) and iCloud feature. Currently, I have iCloud back up turned off. I only have map and Siri to use the location services
4) It's frustrating to have to turn off some features but realistically, you can't expect great battery life and have all the features turned on at the same time.
Good luck to everyone and I believe you can get this issue fixed since mine was.

This is common, and all iPhones have done it. The reason is that the phone charges to 100%, then charging shuts off to avoid overcharging. If there is something going on in the phone that uses power it will drop a few percent before the charger recognizes it and again starts charging. If you look at it in this interval it will show less than 100%. It's nothing to worry about.
However, you may want to recalibrate the battery gauge by running the battery down until the phone shuts off and does not restart, then charge for 4 hours with the wall charger. (The battery doesn't actually ever go to zero charge; the phone shuts off before it reaches that state because Lithium batteries do not tolerate complete discharge well).
It's just strange that never, ever - not even once - did it happen on my iPhone 3G or iPhone 4.
It is strange that it never happened to you. It happened fairly frequently on my iPhone classic and iPhone 3GS. And from the history of posts in the forum it happened frequently to many others also. Do a forum search for "battery problem" and you will see a 4 year history of the problem.
I am having the same problem with my iPhone 4s..read some of the advise here and decided to call my wireless provider for tech support...glad I did....there is an issue with some of the phones...apple is aware of the problem...it has to do with the way the battery sits in the phone...a new battery won't help...you have to call Apple and they will send you out a new phone...soooo all the turn off this and delete that etc...is not going to help...it is the phone itself...not all of the iPhone 4s are having the problem...lucky me I got a bad one....at least they are aware and are sending out new phones!!

I've had all iPhone versions and this is the first time that my battery indicator showed something less than 100. This has happened twice to me with my 4S and both times I had left wifi on so that iCloud backup would take place overnight. It hasn't occurred every time I left wifi on but on both occasions wifi was on. Has not happened to me yet with wifi off. I'm purely guessing but wonder if it does have some thing to do with the iCloud backup.
