How do i delete all the contacts in my iphone 4?

Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings
Are you syncing contacts direct with a supported address book app on your computer via the iTunes sync process, or are you syncing contacts over the air with an email account that supports this?
I'm trying not to sync over the air yet because the phone has all of my contacts and I want to replace them with her contacts which are in her mobile me account
Think that will delete everything and I don't want to do that
yes, a reset will erase everything on your iPhone. If you only want to delete all contacts from your iPhone you'll probably have to use a third party app. There are many free apps in the iTunes store (DeleteContacts, Contact Cleaner, Contacts Duster, ...)
An iPhone reset does not.
A restore does.
Oups. Sorry, Allan is right - a reset doesn't erase data, but the restore does. 😊
if you use outlook express I have a way I just tried it
1- conect your Iphone to your computer
2- run I tunes
3- under info unchek sync contactes with outlook
iCloud also isn't sycning my contacts. I just tried the suggestion to delete every contact from every device. Manually. One at a time. With 227 contacts, that was a miserable 1,135 swipes on my iPhone. I restarted the iPhone, imported my backup contacts on my Mac, and BOOM! Nothing. Now I have no contacts on my iPhone.
iCloud preferences on both iPhone and Mac are set to sync contacts. What else can I do? There's no way apparently to instigate a sync via iCloud. Go back to iTunes and keep syncing the old way? Wonderful.
Okay so I've been playing around with it. There are way too many places to turn on and turn off contact syncing! It's really absurd. Not only do you have to enable it through system preferences on the iPhone and on the Mac and other devices, but you also have to make sure "Default account" in system prefs is set to "iCloud' and not exchange, and you have to make sure to go to Address Book preferences on the Mac and check "Enable" under "iCloud" and then manually move your contacts to the "iCloud" slot (in address book) from the "On My Mac" slot. And that's just what I found before I finally got it to work.
***? Anyway, it's working now for me.
Also, for what it's worth, if you type the letters "W," "T," and "F" together, Apple censors it. haha
There should be and EASY way to do this I hope Apple is working on it. This is a slick solution and one that is easy to follow to remove all the contacts on the iPhone at once.
I followed your instruction for deleting contacts from my iPhone4, and it worked. The problem I now have is that the screen turned black, and there is a little "worm" spinning around. I tried turning off the 'phone, or pressing the back button (in the middle of the bootom), but nothing has helped.
What do I do now? Anybody - HELP!
I Just done my iphone 5. I just went into setting and clicked reset. I then followed the direction for resetting the phone back up. ( Do not use the icloud backup). I then had to manually add every contact i wanted back into my contacts. It worked with out any problems. 🙂
