Siri NOT working... Siri-ously!

Siri listens to commands but just times out, wont give me a response. is there like a Siri status somewhere on the Apple site? so we know if others are being affected or if its just my handset

Well, after seeing my wife's iPhone work just fine with Siri while mine continued to experience network issues, I decided this wasn't a server issue. Resetting alone with Siri set to off did not work for me. However, an old iPad trick did work:

I cleared out the multi-tasking bar (when you double tap the home button), turned off the phone and back on again and it works like a champ.

I suspect it has to do with older out dated apps not playing nice with iOS 5.

Send apple feedback. Request to have Siri intelligently switch between itself and the native voice app. Upon hearing "I'm sorry, but I am having trouble connecting to the network" and then having to back out, go to settings>general>Siri>off and then use voice control is kind of asanine!

People hated the antenna problem, but enough feedback gave us the dual switching antenna.... imagine what Siri can be if you voice your concern in the right place.

So today I read on another post to close all the apps running in the background by double tapping the home button and deleting them. I did this and now Siri is working so it appears that one of the apps was intefering with Siri. Before that I tried disabling Siri and restarting and enabling again, changing the language to another English one, restarting the Network, every other tip I read except resetting all settings. This oneclosing all open apps working in the background was what did the trick.

I wish that there would be one central place where we could go and get the tips rather than to have to search through multiple postings. Something Apple could do to be proactive about helping us out. All in all I do love my iPhone 4s but that experience with Siri was unexpected. I should have read more before buying the iPhone 4s so at least I would have been prepared😉

I am sorry to hear that! I just went to sent and email, a text and made a phone call and Siri is working fine for me. Who knows? Maybe it was a combination of all the steps I took? I know for certain though that the closing of all apps running in the background was what worked for me. It would be really great if Apple would list them in one place in a sequential manner.

Good luck and I hope Siri works for you all soon. When she's working its an amazing tool to have.
