I can confirm that wiping ( ridiculous) clean and restoring software, makes youtube work correctly again, and phone acts normal.

Now that my phone has nothing, Im afraid to install any of the 500.000+ apps available for it, who know what side effects they could have on the phone or its original apps!!!.

RIDICULOUS!!!, APPLE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS!, YOU CONTROL, CHECK AND CENSOR THE SOFTWARE THAT SELLS THROUGH YOUR APP STORE, how in the world can this happen to you.

I have just fixed my problem, guys!

At first wipe your iphone clean, activate it and turn on your youtube app.

Then connect it to itunes and start syncronising it with the Itunes with youtube app turned on.

(so all your programs and music will be installed on the iphone)

then check, have you fixed the problem or not.

Close your youtube app after syncronising it with the itunes, and turn it on again.

It should work in a proper way!
Just try it!

p.s. sorry for my english, greetings from russia😁

Thanks macnikita, for the suggestion.

However, I have just finished restoring my device as you suggested and followed the steps you gave to make YouTube work but nothing changed 😟

I am still getting the message: "Authentication Failed: The username or password you entered is incorrect."

when I know my login information is correct! I even tried to change my password and email to login but I get the same error prompt. It makes no sense.

Apple, you're really starting to **** me off.

Hello???? Apple ?????? Knock !!! Knock !!!! are you there ??????

This problem is everywhere !!!, are you going to deny this on our face, like you did with the vertical lines on my out of warranty intel imac????

Or are you going to reply just like you did when I called about my computer.

Genius on the line :

"lines?? we are not aware of any screen problem!!!" (all I told the "geniuses" was "google it") like they should this problem.

IT DOES NOT TAKE TO A GENIOUS, to ACCEPT RESPONSABILITY JUST humbleness and wisdom.

Thats if.. you want to keep faithful customers, as for me, everything in my home was apple, now all its left is this iphone 4 32GB that im probably selling it and getting a samsung galaxy note 5 inch phone. with ANDROID!!!!

After a year of pure pleasure and not even one problem using iPad 1 (and loving it), I am stunned by the mess updating to iOS 5 has made. No visual on youTube videos, but I get audio. Huh? What's that about? And what is causing the HUGE power drain? I have never had a problem with battery drainage. I honestly think I have to go back to an earlier iOS, but how do I do such a thing? And some of my apps are unresponsive now. It's like they froze up. This is my first Apple product.

Theres been many suggestions here and elsewhere on this issue. Some mentioned the problem might be in the router (n) setting or it's in the phone somehwere. My iPhone 4 with iOS 5.0.1 has the same issue - cannot connect to YouTube via wifi (Airport Extreme in my case). This includes Facebook App links and Safari. To clarify the issues - If I disconnect wifi and go through 3G, YouTube works perfect, reconnect back to wifi - cannot connect. I've tried changing the wifi radio band in Airport Extreme (as suggested) - no dice. Cleared the Safari data - no dice. Restored and backed up the iPhone - no dice. My iPhone 3Gs on iOS5 works fine with no issues.

The fact that Safari can in fact play YouTube videos through the 'm.youtube.com' URL on wifi certainly suggests it's not the wifi router at fault, but something in the iOS itself.

This one looks like an Apple fix is required.

Ok - so I have a fix. I cannot claim to have worked this out myself, but found it after combing through page after page of possibilities.

Answer: Change your DNS setting in the iPhone Wi-Fi settings.

That worked for me. My original DNS settings were assigned by my Airport WIFI router and was 10.0.0.1 (which was the router itself). I removed these and placed in: 208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220

Went straight to YouTube and voila! all works. YouTube loads, videos play. I went back to the settings and changed the DNS back to my router assigned DNS and again the dreaded 'Cannot connect to YouTube' message appears.

So, go to Settings, General, Network, Wi-Fi, locate your selected Wi-Fi network and click the blue arrow beside it to being up advanced settings, click in the DNS area to change it. Those DNS settings mentioned above are Open DNS if you're wondering.

Not sure if this will work for others, but it 100% solves my 'Cannot connect to YouTube' while on an Airport Extreme Wi-Fi network using iPhone 4 with iOS5.

That was the most frustrating couple months I've had with an Apple product in some time. DNS..........

Hope it helps.

Not sure if this helps but i had a basic you tube accnt with only a gmail email and got mine working by going to mobile setup It then forced me to pick a youtube name..... now it works i played with the 2 step authentication a little.... you have to enter the youtube login, then youtube password, then youtube login again then the GooGle 2step authentication code as the password...
