I can confirm that performing a restore fixed this error for me (iphone, not jailbroken, 16Gb, IOS 5.0.1).

Two points before trying this that may/may not have helped me but i first un-synced all the apps on the phone. Then made a backup.

Try this and proceed with the restore, then when prompted, restore the phone from the new backup you made. (No need to setup as a new phone) This takes about 10mins or so.

Before now syncing all the music and apps again, test Youtube. If it works, great! Then hand pick some essential apps and sync them and your music back to the phone and test again. (They did not sync automatically for me with the restore for whatever reason) You can view this as a chance for some spring cleaning if you like! 😉

It took about another 45mins to re-sync all the music and refined apps list. Testing again and still works fine.

This is the only thing that worked for me as no amount of deleting caches and closing apps was bringing it back!

All the best. 🙂

After 3+ months of no word from.Apple, not only on this matter, but on the several vertical lines on my intel imacs screen, the 2mm not responsive line across my 16gb ipad 1, my random shutdowns on my wifes macbook 1st gen, and same random shutdowns on my macbook pro. All well known issues with hundreds if not thousands of affected cutomers, wich apples only reply to them (and me) was "we are.not aware of any problem" I finally fixed all my problems. I posted all my defective apple products and sold them.

Purchased 3 Android phones, 1 samsung galaxy 10.1, a lenovo k1 tablet, and got two rock solid thinkpads ( with dual boot of course) windows strictly when i need it and ubuntu 11.10 for every day used. I have no mkte problems ! Problem fixed.

Answer: Change your DNS setting in the iPhone Wi-Fi settings.

DNS settings place in: 208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220

So, go to Settings, General, Network, Wi-Fi, locate your selected Wi-Fi network and click the blue arrow beside it to being up advanced settings, click in the DNS area to change it. Those DNS settings mentioned above are Open DNS if you're wondering.
