I updated my 3G to ios 5 and now I keep getting the cannot connect to YouTube error. I have tried everything. Any suggestions?

deleting history and cookies from safari in settings worked for me. thanks!

After having the same problem on 2 out of 3 iPads, ios 5.1.1 finally figured out thst the ones with the cannot connect message didn't have the date and time set to auto. after switching auto on, presto, youtube is working again. turned it on and off several times, and on it worked, off it didn't

None of the fixes work for me. he is my situation.. my Iphone 4S is 5.1.1 OS.. I can play Youtube videos in the web browser m.youtube.com and I can play them on facebook app and I can play them in the McTube app. I cant play them in the official YOUTUBE APP or the youtube app that comes with IOS 5.1.1 .... It doesnt matter if I am on 3G or WIFI.. Same issues...
I also have an iPad 3 .... its also on 5.1.1 .. The IOS 5.1.1 App works on it and I can play videos... this is a WIFI only ipad. My Wife has an 4S too but its on the ltest IOS 6 .... she has the official youtube app installed and it works both on 3G and WIFI..
what is casing my 4S to not work with the youtube app but McTube works and m.yotube.com in ssafai and icab mobile works fine??

big kudos to you, camjross. got an iphone 4 from verizon 4 days ago, installed youtube as one of my first apps, and nothing - no videos would play. same goes for any youtube video loaded through safari. turning off my wifi and using 3g was the only way to view through either app. for anyone else experiencing problems, this dns configuration worked for me. thanks a bunch.
Settings >> Wi-Fi >> [Network] (>) >> DNS [change to 208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220] >> exit and reload Youtube or Safari
Solved my problem. A few weeks ago I changed my Google password. I had to delete my Youtube app, reinstalled it and logged on with the new password and Youtube worked again. (would have expected a different error message).
I have this problem for quite sometime now but just now really sat down and tried to figure it out and I finally got it working, its easy in my case, i have an old 3gs iphone with the latest ios7 update. Donot use any google apps (or anyapps) to use youtube, just use the old Safari search engine that comes with your iphone and you should be fine. let me know if it works 😎
