bluetooth and siri

I had the same frustrating thing happen tonight. I tried a few times and my blue tooth thinks im making an outbound call.. Aaargh!

Yes, I am having a lot of issues with Siri and my Bluetooth system that is built into my truck. I have a 2009 Chevy Silverado which came with Bluetooth. When I activate Siri, either by pressing and holding the home button or from the button on my steering wheel the radio silences and the car microphone and speaker are activated. This would be great if it worked. However, first, Siri does not understand half of the commands over Bluetooth. Maybe due to background noise. Second, when Siri asks for confirmation (for example if I ask to send a text message it will read the

Message back to you and ask "do you want me to send this?). When this happens the Bluetooth connection is terminated and completely cancels out your commands to Siri. I have found Siri to be completely useless in my car. My only option is to turn off my Bluetooth which would completely eliminate the whole purpose of having hands free in my truck. One of two things need to happen. First, and this is the ideal solution, the Bluetooth connection needs to remain active the entire time the Siri application is open. So if Siri asks for confirmation the connection isn't severed. The other possible solution would be to have an option in the Siri settings for "Siri Over Bluetooth". This would allow you to disable Siri over Bluetooth so that if you press and hold the home button you are still using the iPhone's microphone and speaker but you keep the Bluetooth connection. Therefore, if you receive a call you could still answer it over the car Bluetooth system. Hope apple adds this soon because the whole purpose of Siri is safety while driving and right now I can't use Siri in my vehicle. Anyone else experiencing this??

I am also experiencing the same issue with Siri and my Parrot Bluetooth car kit. It's very annoying, does anyone have a recommended solution or do will just have to put up with it?

I have a similar problem with it understanding commands but the Bluetooth doesn't drop out.

I was really hoping that this would be great asset in the car. Hopefully Apple will come up with something

I would like to see a solution to this as well. Siri is the perfect thing for your car but now it dosent work in my car. Apple please get us a bluetooth toggle button for siri or make Siri not able to report to bluetooth. PLEASE

I have the same issue. I thought this would be the main selling point of siri. I hope they fix this in the next update.

I too have the above problems. I too am using parott car kit, I upgraded my parott car kit firmware to latest but same issue. I've opened this on parotts forum http://forum.parrot.com/english/viewtopic.php?id=10187

I have the same issue. I was so mad yesterday, after calling Apple Care and getting someone that didn't even understand what I was talking about, that I went and returned my iPhone. Got a Samsung Galaxy S2 and HATED it. Went right back and got my little iPhone back! Figured I'd have to either disable my bluetooth in my vehicle or not use Siri or Speak to Text in my vehicle. Glad to see others having the same issue.

I have a 2011 GMC Terrain with a very high tech bluetooth system. Now that I realize Siri is meant to work through bluetooth, it would be a nice feature if it REALLY worked. Too much interference, the emails, texts, commands, etc. turn out to be a joke. If I turn bluetooth off, then Siri and Speak to Text works great. But, I want my bluetooth for a safety feature.

I'd like to see an option of disabling Siri and Speak to Text going to bluetooth. HELP, APPLE!!!

Does this mean Siri doesn't work at all if I turn it off? I would like to use Siri and Speak to Text in my car, but not have it go through my bluetooth (unless it works and not come back with crazy things).

I have tested it with two bluetooth devices that work well with voice control and siri doesnt' work with either device. I mean, it doesn't work at all: turn it on, speak, no response. So I have to remember to turn siri off before I drive away and on again when I am done driving. not brilliant!

I had two choices. Turn off Bluetooth and use Siri or turn Siri off while I'm driving. I decided to go for the safe option...turn Siri off while driving and no texting. I figure having Siri not work with Bluetooth turns out to be a safety feature for me...lol!

yes, i was so excited to use siri with my blue tooth for real hands free but siri does not understand much of anything i tell her. even if i am just asking her to call someone for me. I do not have a car system just regular blue tooth and if i turn it off, she gets me a little bit better. i don't know if the blue tooth just interferes or what. as i understand with my blue tooth, when i say phone commands to it, i am then speaking to the phone but the blue tooth is still active. i try to speak slowly and directly into the phones speaker but she just does not understand me. Apple, isn't there anything you can do?
