Hi,
I found that when I enabled restrictions on the iPod, the iCloud and Twitter went in grey out unaccessible mode. When I turned off restrictions, they came back and I could use them again.
Hope this helps for you.

that worked for me - but its sounds like a bug - why should icloud and twitter be automatically disabled just because you enabled restrictions - seems like that should be an option in restrictions itself
Hey..it worked for me too..!! Thanks for that...!!! btw, i am also thinking the same way mark..was really wondering whats the the relationship between these two..restrictions and icloud..!!!
I turned off restrictions, set up icloud, then turned restrictions back on, but, had to reconfigure them; seems to be okay now.
This worked for me too. Thanks.
Worked for me too. Thanks very much :-)
Yes, this just worked for me. I had restrictions set on App Downloads due to use of my iPhone by a seven year old, as he is very good at changing things. When I ask to set up iCloud, the software should ask for my secondary restrictions password instead of the icon greyed out. Hello Apple team - change needed here.
That's just how restrictions work. When you set them, any user cannot access specific, restricted apps in Settings. You wouldn't want the device to help out a thief by letting them know up front that to change a setting they have to enter the restrictions passcode. As it is, if they are not familiar with restrictions or remember to check that (as is the case, it seems, for the other posters), then they'll give up.
pvonk, I hear what you are saying, but disagree on the design. Apple products are intuitive and that means I can use them without refering to manuals and help topics. When I restrict downloading Apps on the iphone, I still want an App Store on my phone with the secondary password to access it. I do not want to have to remember to dig down into sub sub menus on Restrictions. If a thief gets the phone and they know my secondary password either way is not going to stop them.
Also, I could not download Apps from iTunes on my iMac. The software should be set up to indicate that I have restrictions set up and ask if I want to turn them off. Instead the Apps were stuck in Waiting. I assumed that the restictions only applied to iPhone App downloads and not to those via iTunes on the iMac.
I only want to restrict use on the iPhone when the seven year old has it in his hands. I should be able to do everything from the iMac which the 7 year old has no access to.
I hope that clarifies my thoughts.
The reason why Restrictions turns off iCloud is because in Restrictions you will see an option for Accounts. iCloud is considered an account because it requires a Username and Password. With Restrictions turned on it automatically turns off access to Accounts. You can configure the settings to allow access to Accounts only, and still keep the other Restrictions you would like.
thank you so much I had the same problem with my sons ipod for days.I asked the same question differently and did not get a response.Thank you I looked back found my problem and fixed just as you said. You just made my day.It is the simple things.
Can anyone tell me how to turn on my icloud? Because the problem is i dont remember my secondary
passcode!!!! I enter my ipod password, but then they ask me for a secondary password! ****! I made that
a few months ago and i changed my password around a few times after that. So basically, my icloud, twitter, facebook and mail are "greyed" out now. I cant use none of them! Please help!
To fix this you have to go to Settings>General>Ristrictions>Accounts (near the bottom) and set this to Allow Changes. If you forgot your Ristrictions passcode the only way to remove it is by restoring your device as New, without using your backup and start over.
Identify with frustration about greyed out iCloud. Had trouble with Photosteam - reset it following iCloud instructions but still not working. Arrrrgh! Helpful replies - now got access to iCloud by undoing all restrictions and got photostream working as well. I agree it is not so intuitive but then security and restrictions are not supposed to be easy to bypass. Thanks all.
