Push email does not work (iCloud)

Since the update to icloud the push email does not work anymore. Im only talking about the me.com adress no Yahoo oder other Emails. I didnt changed the Mail settings and pushing mails worked fine before the update to icloud.

Example:

When i switched on the phone in the morning the mails i received during the night immediately got pushed to the iphone. That doesnt work anymore. It only receives the mails when i switch to the mail app.

Any suggestions anyone?!? 😟

Im using newest iOS 5 with an iPhone 4S and migrated my old me.com account to iCloud.

I was able to contact AppleCare and they identified that there is an account conflict in my specific case which is preventing iCloud push e-mails.

They were very clear and stated multiple times that the issue I am experiencing is limited to my case and is not a borad issue. I strongly encourage everyone experiencing these issues to contact AppleCare at 1-800-MY-APPLEUser uploaded file and log a ticket.

The more tickets that are opened withthe same issue, the faster Apple will probably look at the issue in general, and not on a case-by-case issue.

Browncoat,

Aren't you the person who heard back from Apple after you sent an email to Tim Cook?

Am understanding correctly that they have followed up with you after their initial contact, and they have told you that this issue is specific to you?

I hope they resolve this issue for you, but after seeing all of these posts, I think it's ridiculous to state that the issue is specific to you only. I've had a ticket open with them since October 12th with this issue!

I am so bummed out on how Apple is handling this.

To everyone else, I have simply turned off push under the iCloud settings, and have set my phone to fetch every 15 minutes. This does not resolve the fact that iCloud does not work, but at least I am getting my emails, and have been getting them for 5 days in a row.

Yes.

They removed my post, probably in fears that we will start bombarding Tim with requests for every minor bug fix under the sun. And, in retrospect, I shouldn't have posted about their reply. I heard the Steve used to respond to customer e-mails and figured "What the ****".

They're testing my account while it's still active, so every once in a while I get the odd, random message, so that servges as confirmation that they are testing and working behind the scenes.

The right course of action in this case is, and this is just my opinion, to contact AppleCare, log a ticket, and be polite but persistant.

I've also stayed on it consistently since the beginning. I've called, e-mailed and talked via chat, all combined, AT LEAST 25 times. Not kidding. And I've never once been rude, always extremely polite. And the reps i've spoken with have also been polite. But I'm extremely disappointed. It's all very un-APPLE, the way it's been handled...or not been.

Since this morning, push is working again on all my devices.

I followed wir43's advice and used these settings (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4864?viewlocale=en_US) on my iPhone. I called this account "iCloud2". So I disabled iCloud mail and enabled iCloud2 mail. Instantly push was working on my iPhone.

Then I tried the same procedure on my iPod. But what happend? No push, not on the iPod and no more on the iPhone. So I disabled all mail again, I enabled iCloud mail on iPod and iCloud2 mail on iPhone. Push was working again on the iPhone but not on the iPod. This was not the optimal result, but it was ok with me.

But this morning I discovered that push is working on the iPhone and the iPod. Maybe Apple fixed that bug? But I do not dare to change back to the original iCloud setting...

Now that's more than interesting!

For english readers: Motorola (that means Google) sued Apple in a german court for various patent infringements. The first result is that Apple stopped the selling of the iPhone3GS and iPhone4 (in Germany/Europe). And it will result in the disabeling of push mail.

So my first idea: Is the push problem restricted to Germany only? I think not.

Second idea: If there is a connection between the recent push problems and these patent wars, it would explain Apple's secretive behaviour. Then it's not a technical but a legal problem and I guess Apple will not admit or comment it...
