The restore did not work. Turning off siri and bt did not work. Still experiencing about 30% of my calls having the strange echo and no voice transmission. I am getting new hardware in a few days. It seems like the lucky number is 3 iPhones to get this bug fixed.

I am also just begining to have issues connecting to the AT&T network whereas when I first got the phone things seemed fine. Full service throughout my apartment, the signal never degrades, but the phone just wont connect to the network.

Went to the Genius Bar and after testing they could not reproduce my problem, but they replaced the phone as it was "new". The new phone seems to be Ok, but I am not wild about the call quality, hoping it is just due to where I am calling from. I have not really had enough time to test it sufficiently. But I must say the Apple staff were very helpful and cooperative.

I’m having the same problem with my 4s iphone. I took it back to Sprint, but they told me to go to the Apple store. First I thought it was the earphone till Apple told me that it could be the mic and they gave me a new phone. Problem is I’m experiencing the same thing with my new 4s phone. After 30 minutes of using the earphone there's a cracking sound.

I have this problem too! It's only started happening recently. My iPhone 4S was working fine and then it started to happen. What I have noticed though is that it only happens when calling other iPhone's, has anyone else noticed that? I can talk to other people using Blackberry or Nokia etc and they can hear me fine but as soon as a call is made to an iPhone or received from an iPhone, it starts the microphone muting issue again! They say they can hear me occasionally, a bit like a broken signal connection but then it goes mute. Is it just an iPhone to iPhone issue? Has anyone else noticed that?

Got my new iphone 4s yesterday from apple store online in Norway. Mic was not working right away after setup and restore from iphone 4 backup. I can't seem to do anythin about it. Sometimes the microphone works (for Skype, Magickack, Voice memo records) and sometimes it just doesnt. Well, acutally form listening to the voice memo records i can tell that the microphone 'works' but there is a lot of white noise and i can here my voice only very quite in the background.

Outgoing calls work with the headset and when I activate the speaker.

Again, the funny thing is that the microphone seems to turn itself on and off (mute) at random, even if I don't do anything...

My frustation is that tomorrow Im going for business tryp and my New Iphone 4s is not working properly ;-(.

I hope when I come back to Norway the apple store online change my iPhone 4s for one who works.
