iPhone 4s mic issues

iPhone 4s 64gb on Telstra

Half the time when i call someone they cannot hear me, i checked the mute button turning it off and on, no difference, also reset the phone etc.Not sure if carrier or phone fault. Seems to only happen with out going calls, happens to home and mobile phones.

Anyone else have this issue or know about it?

Also when taking a photo with the flash, the picture seems washed out with like a whiteneaa

OK I've now fixed my Siri issue. I had lost the two bleeps when pressing and holding the home button and Siri no-longer spoke! Here's how I fixed the problem:

1. Settings > General > Siri > Off > Disable Siri.

2. Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings.

3. Restart iPhone 4S.

4. Settings > General > Siri > On > Enable Siri.

Mine's quite funny and frustrating? If i turn off siri and do the reset everything is fine with mic mute when calling out. However, if i start changing wallpapers, turn off sound clicks, add battery % to the screen it comes back, but less frequent than before? Had enough of playing around now........................

Think i'd better start to do some real work for a change. Hopefully Apple gets the fix out soon!

Just got my third phone via FedEx today (2 replacements for the same problem everyone is experiencing here). First outbound call was OK, but it would not surprise me if the problem comes back. I'll keep everyone posted. Still possible that it's hardware, but a number of us have had replacements that exhibit the same behaviour.

I also just received a replacement 4s today and this time people can hear me when I call, but I can't hear them. If I engage speakerphone, I can hear them, but when I toggle back to microphone, it is dead. Also, the replacement has a discolored screen.

Where were these things manufactured? In a day care center? I'm a long-time Apple user rethinking my loyalty.

i don't want to jinx anything, but so far so good on iphone 4S #3. i started it as a new phone. i have not put even a case on it yet. i paired one bluetooth device and so far so good. the other two had problems right away - so i'm keeping my fingers crossed. i'll add a second device in tomorrow and hopefully it will still be smooth sailing. i'll keep the discussion posted. wish me luck.

4s 16G with AT&T. A few people on here have mentioned the echoing of their voice in the headset prior to the person your calling answering.. Has anyone had an issue with your voice echoing once your talking to someone?? There isn't a long pause between when I speak and when the echo occurs, it sounds more like I'm speaking in a large empty room. It occurs probably about 20-30% of the time.

I had the old 3G before and didn't have this issue. I don't live anywhere near an Apple Store, any suggestions? Also, when I tap on the Back of my phone near the Top End, it sounds like something inside of it is loose, (rattling noise)... thoughts?

Thanks for the help

still smooth sailing on phone #3 - added in the second BT device and put the bumper back on. so i have my jawbone ERA paired for out of the office and my plantronics 975 paired for in the office. the only thing left is to pair my 2011 VW Jetta bluetooth. i'll let you know how that goes but by this time, the on the other two phones i had problems straight out of the box - so i'm still cautiously optimistic.
