Photostream is not syncing on my Windows 7 PC

So... no matter what I do, I can't get Photostream to sync to my Windows 7 PC.

I have iCloud desktop set up. I have the folders where they should be. Photostream works on my iPhone (I turned it off on my iPhone, it removed the pics, turned it back on, and it loaded them back on)

However, photos placed in upload on my PC don't upload... and no photos from my photostream have loaded on to my comptuer. I've even uninstalled and reinstalled the iCloud desktop program.

Any thoughts? It's working great on my wife's PC (which I set up), so it's not that I don't understand the concept.

I've even shut down my virus scanner to see if that was blocking (it wasn't).

Sooooo... it's driving me crazy. Is there a service I can look for in Windows that might not be running? Anything? Anyone? Buehler? I need help!

I found the reason for this and the solution couldn't be simpler. The issue is compatability. So, search for Icloud using Windows search on bottom left and right click on it. Go to properties>compatability>Windows 7>apply>ok. do the same for iCloud photos. Then sign out of icloud and sign back in. Presto! You'll notice it will be a lot quicker to load too. After a year trying to figure it out I stumbled on it....It's worked ever since.

I have installed iCloud 3.1 on 2 Windows PCs, one running Win 8.1, and the other Win 7 Pro. In both cases, iCloud installation hangs when the app is first opened after install. Restarting a second time doesn't seem to help the sync process any. Ultimately neither PC reflects Photostream photos.

Its clear 3.1 is just poorly implemented for Windows by Apple. This thread has been going on for some time without a concrete fix from Apple directly, so I am going to transfer my Photostream photos into an Album, for direct cable transfer to a PC. I will then turn off iCloud in favor of one of the many cloud storage apps out there. Not ideal, but I can't code iCloud myself so no other choice.

I am an Apple fan, but it is odd that Apple cannot seem to get web/cloud based apps working... from eWorld to mobile me, to iCloud... it hasn't been pretty.

I had the same problem on my Windows Vista machine, I called AppleCare and they helped me out. Apparntly you need to reinstall the iCloud control panel. Go to control panel, click uninstall a progam, and select iCloud. After iCloud is uninstalled, you need to reinstall it again by downloading it from apples website. If you use Windows Vista, you will need to download the 2.1.3 version. I don't think iCloud is supported on Windows XP anymore. 😟 So you will not be able to use iCloud on your XP machine. If you use Windows 7 or 8, you can download the latest version of iCloud. After the install it should be all good!

Hi! Same problem here. Everything worked perfect between PC W7, Mac, iPad and iPhone. Suddently, and who knows why, it did not work on PC. Each time I tried something I read on internet, iCloud photos on Pc where different, I guess selected in an aleatory way... fed up of tries, today I did again what "matticonnolly" and "DAC84" suggested. After that, and with all devices with wifi off, I cancelled every photo on stream "folder" (hard job!!!! almost 1000 photos in each of them!), even on icloud folder on the PC (before that I copied all photos from iPad and iPhone to a safe directory in the PC). I switched on wifi again on all devices, I took a photo with iPhone et voilà: I could see it everywhere :-) I do not know until when this works... but if it will happen again... bye bye apple photostream, and I will use dropbox or something else! I am fed up all this "small" bugs on iOS's...
