Photostream is not syncing on my Windows 7 PC

So... no matter what I do, I can't get Photostream to sync to my Windows 7 PC.

I have iCloud desktop set up. I have the folders where they should be. Photostream works on my iPhone (I turned it off on my iPhone, it removed the pics, turned it back on, and it loaded them back on)

However, photos placed in upload on my PC don't upload... and no photos from my photostream have loaded on to my comptuer. I've even uninstalled and reinstalled the iCloud desktop program.

Any thoughts? It's working great on my wife's PC (which I set up), so it's not that I don't understand the concept.

I've even shut down my virus scanner to see if that was blocking (it wasn't).

Sooooo... it's driving me crazy. Is there a service I can look for in Windows that might not be running? Anything? Anyone? Buehler? I need help!

Finally sorted this for windows 8.1

After reading all the above, removing, reinstalling, downgrading etc (none of which worked), I went to Icloud control panel on my pc and disabled photo sharing.

I then went to windows explorer and created a new folder direct on the root c:\ which I called "Photostream".

Then I Logged out of icloud.

Log back in to icloud select photos (options) and the "icloud photos locations". Change this to the drive you have created (in my case c:\Photostream).

All my photos then downloaded from my other devices.

It appears that this is purely a permissions issue with the default photostream folder within the useer account.

This could compomise your photo security if you share your pc with other users, but that didn't bother me.

This worked! I spent a good 8 hours off and on trying every solution in the interwebs and THIS is what finally worked! My Outlook calendar is now goofed up unfortunately so now I have to find a solution for that.

I found the reason for this and the solution couldn't be simpler. The issue is compatability. So, search for Icloud using Windows search on bottom left and right click on it. Go to properties>compatability>Windows 7>apply>ok. do the same for iCloud photos. Then sign out of icloud and sign back in. Presto! You'll notice it will be a lot quicker to load too. After a year trying to figure it out I stumbled on it....It's worked ever since.

Try another DNS.

I closed OpenDNS and Goagent, then SYNC came well.

So I guess there is something wrong with the DNS. You can try to change DNS.

Because My photostream didn't sync too, and I read this dicussion and tried many things and didn't work out.

But my situation was a little bit different, My shared photos can upload and download.

It drove me crazy too. Hope I can help you a little bit.

Nothing downloading, downloader process not running. Here is how I fixed it:

Checked logs at C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\Logs, there is a file starting with asl. Had some mumble and error in plist.

Decided to delete the whole C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MediaStream folder

Start iCloud, photo syncing will be disabled. Enable, Apply -> things start working again.

Unbelieveable how many times and ways the photo syncing can break and Apple doesn't bother to even show a single error message.
