iPhone 4S - Outgoing call no audio

Picked up a Verizon iPhone 4S - 32GB and on about 1 in 10 calls I get no outbound audio when dialing. Call shows the timer counting as if the call is progressing but absolutely no ring back and cannot hear the party on the other end when they answer.

Anyone else having this issue? I've found a few forums online stating people have had luck hitting the speaker button on and off to get it working again but it hasn't failed in the past 20 minutes for me to test that theory..

Thanks...

Hello,

today I talked to the Apple telephone support about my problem.

First thing she asked was about my exact IOS Version (It's 5.0.1 (9A405)). She said there is an "unoffical" newer version 5.0.1 (9A406) that fixes the issue for many users but not for all. Now I'm supposed to install this new version via iTunes (sound's like a lengthy procedure), which I will try to do in the evening (if my time allows it).

So hopefully the issue will be fixed for me some time soon, let's hope and wait.

I will keep you informed but it might take some time.

Have u tried the method of enabling the 3G mobile data? Because it was immediately worked for me!!

I no need to reboot my phone after enabled it & just off the 3G mobile data back to previous condition immediately after I on the mobile data. It also worked!!

If u wanna try install the 9A406, then u have to delete the 9A405 firmware first, then download the latest 9A406 firmware & restore it. But always remember to backup your phone data using iCloud & your computer before update ur firmware. Anyway u can refer to other discussion to do it as below:

Now those of you who were in so much rush to get your phones exchanged with refurbs, how do you feel now when iOS 5.1 clearly says that all was SOFTWARE problem? Addressed- fixed= ALL DONE!

I am happy I kept my original brand new phone with perfect screen eveness and tint and didn't get refurb just because of some stupid impaitience. Sp glad that everzthing is working flawlessly now on my phone!

Man, you people are deaf.

Many hardware problems can be circumvented with software patches. Several people thorughout the course of this thread spoke with individuals in varying levels of support within the Apple organization who pointed to a problem with the audio switching hardware. It's entirely possible to circumvent this problem with a different intialization routine, if it happened to work out. Anyhow, with the way things have been going, give it more then 4 hours before you decalre victory.

Regardless, I hope this **** problem has been fixed so I can stop watching this thread. It's been like the movie groundhog day.
