iPhone 4 upgraded to iOS5, now Bose SoundDock not working

I upgraded to iOS5 on my iPhone 4, and now it does not work with my Bose SoundDock. Does anyone have any ideas what caused this? I went to best buy and it works on other docking products. I'm hoping it's a bug, but if other people have this issue (or they upgraded and it's working fine) please comment.

thanks!

Same problem with my Sony MHC-EC9091P Stereo System with ipod dock. It was working one day. Then the next it would not. Pop up on Ipod touch says. This accessory is no longer supported by Ipod touch. Stereo is less than a year old. I find it ridiculous. Spent an hour with customer support trying hard and soft resets, and resync. They sent me to the Apple store for Tech help. What a waste of time. They blew out a little dust from IPod and sent me on my way. While pushing an exchange for $99.95. Mean while my daughters older Ipod touch will play on the dock. So its not the dock. Its the update. Lets face it. Apple has made a **** of a lot of Ipod docks non functional. When you spend hundreds of dollars on a Dock. You expect it to work for years. Makes me leary of buying a surround sound system for 3DHDTV and 3D Blueray with the Ipod dock so we can all listen to our music in the Family Room. It just *****. APPLE FIX THE ISSUE WITH DOCKS

Just adding my two-bits worth on this discussion as well. I have a Ipod touch which I play itunes through the Bose SoundDock II system. It too has quit working after many months of problem-free listening.

I have sent the Bose player back to factory at their request and still the problem persists. I talked to Apple support for many hours trying different toubleshooting suggestions .... nothing worked. I have also deleted everything off the Ipod and re-installed from my PC ....still no change !

The only way I can use my Bose system is to use a 3.5mm patchcord connecting the Ipod through the earphone plug and plugging the other end into the auxillary plug in the back of the Bose system. This is not exactly a perfect solution as the remote will only control the volume ....nothing else.

I'm thinking the same as many of you that the problem here is the lastest IOS system is not compatable for docking devises. Apple needs to get on with finding the solution here !

I had a similar situation this morning. My iPod Touch runs iOS 4.2.1 (which is as far as it will update), my iPhone 4GS runs on iOS 6.0.1. They have always worked on my Bose Portable Sounddock, which is about 4 or 5 years old. However, this morning, after updating my iTunes software on my computer to iTunes 11.0, I connected both of my devices to the computer to add my Christmas Playlist ... much to my dismay, my Sounddock no longer had any sound!!! I tried many things, even going as far as restoring my iPod Touch. I tried turning everything off and then back on ... nothing. After about 2 hours, I finally called Bose ... WOW, were they ever helpful. Nick (how appropriate since Xmas is near) instructed me to reset the Bose Sounddock. With the portable unit, it required unplugging, then removing the battery, waiting 10 seconds, replacing the battery, plugging it back in and trying ... Voila! All is good and the sound is back. Maybe this will help someone having a similar problem. Definitely, it is worth a few minutes to try. Good luck all!

Both Apple and Bose are completely aware of the problem. Our problem is we who have iussues have already purchased both an iPhone and Bose SoundDock. They seem to only care about people who are looking to purchase. Now we know why so many companies are going belly up, they don't look to the future only the $$$ they can get from consumers today. I know I will NEVER PURCHASE AND IPHONE OR BOSE ANYTHING in the future.

Un-believable. Now me. I guess I've been lucky, I was able to enjoy my iPhone music through my Bose soundock for almost a year. Had my phone repaired, and I see I am running IOS 6.0.1. Finally DOWNLOADED each of my songs one by one to my iPhone 4GS since now Apple wants to charge $24.99 a year for "iTunes Match" for instant access. Plugged it into my Bose...nothing. I have to agree with CT_PBW...it's a racket. When are we going to stop falling for it.

Not sure what an Apple 4GS is. Thought apple went from 4S to 5. The problem is not the hardware regardless, it is the software. I have a 4S running IOS 6.0.1 and it works great on the Bose docking station. The issue I have is I can not get remote speakers to work because of IOS 6.0.1, even when I use splitter to access peripheral equipment. In theory Apple agrees this should work and the issue is the operating system not the hardware.

I spent about 10 hours between Bose and Apple to finally get upgraded to an Apple "guru" after they realized I knew what I was talking about. This is why I was surprised Apple did not fix error in in 6.0.1. Lucky I had iTouch on IOS 4.0 to troubleshoot and prove it did work in the past just not on the new operating system.

Also why did you copy ITunes library one tune at a time. If you attach phone to computer you can select all songs and drag to music directory on the iPhone.

Also for others out there. I just bought a ColdStream Bluetooth dongle ($30) for my old SoundDock and can send music from my iPhone to the SoundDock. Wish I had known about that before buying new SoundDock for my iPhone. Would have save me a couple hundred dollars! It works great.

I guess I'm an idoit. It looks like I have an iPhone 4. Software still is IOS 6.0.1

As far as coping the songs one by one, syncing (more than once) did not do it, so I just had to figure it out myself. The new format for iTunes doesn't spell it out very "user friendly wise".

I just don't know what is different all of a sudden. My iPhone 4 had been up to date with software, it's just after I received this new, replacement phone that I started having the problem.

If your iPhone 4S works on the docking station, did you find out anything from your 10 hours talking to Bose or Apple that could help me? I appreciate anything I can get. LOVED my Bose. Now it is just a big charger.

The new iTunes is extremely user unfriendly. You have to change the view to see the sidebar and it becomes clearer what is residing where.

As to why your phone does not work it must at this point it seems to be the hardware. I had to get an aftermarket dock adaper that allowed by iPhone to sit deeper the the cradle and still be supported for the pins to make full contact.

This is one I purchased http://http://www.synthecept.com/buy.html. Bose used to provide mutiple adapters but apparantly at the prices they are charging they cheaped out.

If you bring your dock and you iPhone to an Apple Store maybe they can troubleshoot it. It could be a bad pin on your iPhone or they have a different cradle on the docks in the store. Hine: Bring a tape measure.

Good Luck.

Don't think an after market Dock Adapter is the solution, as in most cases our phones worked then stopped working after a software update.

As I have stated before my phone works fine in a Bose Sounddock Portable but no others (confirmed at a Bose outlet?!).

The only responce you will get from a Apple Store is that it's nothing to do with them! (In my experience anyway!)

I have resorted to buying a bluetooth adapter for my Bose.

Having had the same problem as everyone else, (with a 4s, and sounddock2), I took my phone to the Bose store, and it didn't work in sounddock's in the store, they sent me to Apple, who ntoiced that one of the pins on my iphone was bent backwards (the very far left/right pin, i can't remember exactly). They said that's very likely the problem. I tried to bend it upright, but it just snapped off.

Looks like I'll either need to replace the pin connector on the phone, or get a new phone. Might be worth checking your pins to see if that's the problem.
