iPhone 4 upgraded to iOS5, now Bose SoundDock not working

I upgraded to iOS5 on my iPhone 4, and now it does not work with my Bose SoundDock. Does anyone have any ideas what caused this? I went to best buy and it works on other docking products. I'm hoping it's a bug, but if other people have this issue (or they upgraded and it's working fine) please comment.

thanks!

Hey folks,

I posted this in a different thread, but this is what I did and it worked for me. I've tried my phone on 3 different docks after I did this and they all work fine. I'll repeat it below, hopefully it will help some of you:

I might add a few steps in case anyone has the same problem and is not as familiar with iTunes as you/me.

1)Connect phone

2)Hightlight your phone on the left side of the iTunes window

3)Click on the music tab towards the top middle of the iTunes window

4)Uncheck "sync music"

5) Click "Apply" down on the bottom right At either this step or the preceding step you might get a

pop up box that says "you have made changes" or something like that, click okay or apply.

6)After this is finished, check to make sure there is no music left on your iPhone by double clicking on your

iPhone in the left hand pane of iTunes and then click on "music" under your iPhone

7)If there is no music on your iPhone, then recheck the "sync music" and then click "apply" down in the

bottom righ.

8)If you have a lot of music it will take hours to sync, but when finished your Dock accesorries should work again.

If I left out any steps, someone please correct me. I'm doing it from memory (which isnt that great)

Same with my Apple universal dock. After updating my iphone 3G and my ipotouch 3G with ios5, the apple remote controls (the white and the aluminium one) doesn´t react when iphone or ipod are docked at the universal dock. The remote controls both still work with my Macbook, therefore it must be a problem with the dock. I have tried to connect both with the dock (Menu + left for 6 seconds) but it doesn´t help.

Furthermore the volume control doesn´t react on the iphone and the ipod when they are docked. Neither the one on the touchscreen nor the buttons. The day before the update everything was fine.

At least the music plays. I even called the local reseller but they never ever heard of that problem. Told me that people using the universal dock are very rare. Thanks for that response 😠

I will try the hint from aztec above and I´ll report.

I am having the same sort of problems. I have the new 4s which came with iso5 on it and upgraded my wifes iphone 4 now both of them do not operate properly on the sounddock11. I have sound and the only buttons on the remote that work are the volume none of the others work. I reported the problem to Bose and they have said it could be the battery in the handset (its not) i could un plug the bose for 10 sec to reset it (that doesnt work) or could be a faulty handset. Probably not as my 3gs and wifes 4 worked fine before we had ios5.

Reading different links on the web i am pretty sure now that its the ios5 its just a case of what happens now.

Mine still plays & charges but the rest of buttons don't work skipping and turning on/off.

I will wait and see what Bose have to say keep you posted.

Same problem here with iTouch 3rd gen. Broke my iTouch over the weekend, received replacement yesterday from Apple Care. Surprised to find it had 4.3.5 on it, and I upgraded to 5.0. Now Bose Sounddock II which has worked fine with the previously owned iTouch for 2 1/2 months has no sound. When I plug in the iTouch the display shows "no volume available". My old iTouch had iOS 4.3.3 and worked great.

My older ipod with video works fine with the Bose, so it has to be the os. Glad to see my Bose isn't broken, I guess.

I´ve tried the hint from aztec, but now its even worse. Now there is no sound anymore and the other problems aren´t resolved either.

With the normal sound plug it works but not connected with the dock.

The problem is that I couldn´t delete al music, i just don´t know why some 40 songs remained on the ipod after several syncs???

I bought a Samsung soundbar specifically for my iPhone last year and since I've upgraded to ios5.0, I can't get a cheep from it. I was all set to send the phone off under warranty to check the jack until I read these posts. Not only do I listen to iTunes but I use a radio app as well as Spotify so the music player was at the core of the iPhone's functionality for me. That being so, I think there's an argument that Apple have rendered my iPhone unfit for the purpose I got it for.

This is really, really basic stuff guys - get it sorted! What would Steve say?

Looks like Apple have made a right pigs ear of the ios5 upgrade. The internet is littered with questions on help forums because idocks no longer works.

Looks like a fundamental problem with the firmware that no longer recognises docks.

C'mon Apple, get your bloody finger out & get a fix issued, you've rendred probably tens of thousands of idocks worthless.
