Trackpad multi-gesture doesn't work while mouse is clicked

I used to drag and drop files from desktop to finder using my magic mouse while desktop is shown with four-finger spreading on trackpad.

After the recent update to 10.7.2, it doens't work. With mouse-click on a file on desktop, the entire trackpad-gestures don't work at all (no space movement, no mission control, & no desktop showing as well).

I thought BTT might be a culprit but there was no luck when I tried it again after disabling BTT.

I can't find any option to enable this multigesture with mouse-click on system preference.

Is this a glitch of 10.7.2 or am I missing something?

I'm using MBP mid-2009 and all softwares are up to date together with my iOS devices.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.2), Hooked up with other iOS devices

I am too facing this same issue. only that I do everything on my trackpad.

I would click and drag an item from my desktop 3, and then use three finger to switch to desktop 1 where my Mac Mail is... and attach the file that way.

Now When i'm dragging, Multi-gesture doesn't work any more.... making it a real hassle for me....

Yeah. It seems to be a glitch of 10.7.2.

Apple would have messed it up while they tried to fix the space rearrangement issue.

One evidence that it's a glitch is you can actually make this function work when you move fast. You click an object and at the almost same time move your fingers on trackpad. Succes rate is not that high though.

good find, at least now i can drag item between desktop by using multigesture till it's fixed!

I have also been having this problem with Mission Control. It only started a few days ago, before then, my Lion was working smoothly. Now when i use the 4 finger swipe Mission Control becomes laggy and I can't drag a file during Mission Control anymore. Everything else like Launchpad and Desktop works though.

I am not using BTT and I have done a Repair Disk and even re-installed Lion OS X. And I can't seem to find anything that would help in any of the system preferences.

I think Apple really should look into this and develop an update to fix this problem.

I'm facing this same issue since the day I updated to 10.7.2. It pises me off a lot, because I'm constantly dragging things from one app to another (or to the desktop).

We need a way to solve this up.

Does Apple read this forum at all? This was more useful to me than the whole iCloud thing.

OS X Update 10.7.3 solves the issue 🙂 finally 😀

EDIT: mmh cheered too soon...... Works with Spaces, but not with Finder.... 😟

So if anyone has an idea how to solve the problem: please tell us!

Yay it came back with 10.7.3!!

It works everywhere (switching spaces, showing mission control or desktop) to me. Which part is still missing?

You still can't scroll up or down in Finder, while you drag a file/folder......

Or does it work on your Mac?

Oh, it seems not working. Did it work before 10.7.2? I used to hold a file near the finder's bottom until it starts scrolling down. I never tried trackpad scrolling, which seems by the way easier.

I'm happy with this update anyway for now.

Two finger scroll while dragging a file was working in 10.7.1. This was broken in 10.7.2 and still not working in 10.7.3.
