problem after iOS5 with pairing iPhone with Car

I have a Lexus is250 which paired beautifully with my iPhone and I was able to play music from phone in my car. Since the upgrade, I cannot. I have "repaired" "Blue tooth audio", the radio in car "looks" like it is playing (you can use the controls on the car stereo to forward through playlist and it forwards on phone" but no sound comes out. This worked perfectly fine before iOS. Any ideas? I've deleted and re-paired phone twice....

I have a 2011 VW GTI and 4S running iOS 5.1.1 and same thing happens. Sometimes BT connnects and I can receive or make outgoing calls through car, other times it it loses BT connection even after being on a call. I have to shut blue tooth off on phone and then turn on and reconnect. When it loses connection car still thinks its attached, but it's not! VW replaced BT module but still does this. Gotta be an Apple issue with iOS 5 since this was not an issue prior to.

Hoping to buy an iPhone 5 and hearing of all the problems, I called Apple twice and VW once to see if the iPhone 5 would integrate with the VW stereos (e.g. hands-free calling and in-stereo control of Music form the phone). The Apple techs both said, "I don't know and I don't know who would." VW said, "There are many phones out there, you cannot count on VW to connect with them all. The iPhone 5 is not on the list of compatible phones." (They haven't even gotten the 4S figured out....).

I'm experiencing bluetooth drop-out problem with my Lexus RX-350 (2011) Model and my iPhone 4s. During any call, the bluetooth connection between iPhone 4s and car audio drops-out randomly, the call continues and is switched over to the iPhones internal speaker. I must quickly pickup the iPhone to tap the external speaker icon, doing this enables me to continue with the conversation. Within 30 seconds, in the iPhones title bar, the bluetooth icon starts blinking. This blinking indicates the bluetooth is searching for a compatible device and then reconnects with the RX350's bluetooth Audio. Iphone 4s - running iOS 6.1.2 :: RX-350 (2011) running - original/Factory fitted Audio sound system. I've mentioned my plight to the Lexus dealer ship, they say, its not a problem there familiar with.

Please Help its driving me bonkers.

Hi, usedamacluke

I also have an iPhone 4S running iOS 6.1.2 and a RX 350 (2011) with the original Audio sound system and I am not experiencing any issues like yours so your issues must come from something in your phone or your car audio system. If you have not done so already, try having both the car and the phone forget each other. Reset your iPhone and pair them again to see if that clears up the issue.

I also have an iPhone 5, and before I got it last October, I phoned Lexus to see if their system was compatible with the iPhone 5 and they told me that it wasn´t. Nonetheless, I went ahead and got the Iphone 5 and was very pleasantly surprised when I discovered that it pairs well and works well in my 2011 Lexus, although most of the time I use the 4S because that is my work phone.

I did exactly that! numerous resets and pairing to both RX-350 and my first iPhone 4s. I made an appointment at an Apple store, explained the situation to the Apple Genius. The Genius discovered other problems with my original phone and provided with a new iPhone 4s, it too has not fixed the issue.

I suspected the lack of a bluetooth upgrade to the car audio could be causing the incompatibility. After reading your post, that your not experiencing any issues after reseting your 4s, Thats blown that theory ..HA!!

On a positve note! knowing that the iPhone 5 works with the RX-350, i'm eager to upgrade to the iPhone 5s.

I have Chevrolet Captiva year 2012. The car bluetooth system doesn't connect properly with my iPhone 5 iOS 6.1.2. After getting connected for a while, it keep switching from "connected" and "disconnected". Even in "connected" state, I am still unable to get any audio out or make a phone call through the car audio system. However i can do all this with my Blackberry 9900. So this may be iOS problem.

But i can connect my iPhone 5 with the 2013 Honda CR-V car stereo and my friend's 2012 Mazda CX-5 over bluetooth for both music and phone call with no issue. So this maybe some bugs too in Captiva car stereo.

My work around for this, i use AUX input instead. Captiva Car Stereo has no USB port so AUX is the only option. I have a hard time navigating and choosing songs in iphone since the stereo buttons doesn't work. And AUX is only for music and doesn't work for phone calls.

I hope Apple and Chevy have a fix soon.

I have a slightly different problem that I haven't seen mentioned. I have a 2013 GS350 and an iPhone 5 running OS6. When I complete a call using the Bluetooth and just let the other party disconnect (without me disconnecting) I get a call failed message on my phone. Then, when I log into ther phone with my password, it immediately dials that number. I thought it was the phone, but Apple replaced it with a new one and it still happens. I paired my wife's iPhone 5 and it does the same thing. However, it does not happen if I am called rather than my initiating the call. Is the problem with Lexus or Apple?
