Transfer ultraviolet digital copy dvd to iTunes, not Flixster?

Got Horrible Bosses on Blu-Ray and instead of a digital copy that downloads automatically to iTunes, they have this new "ultraviolet" digital copy that only downloads to some stupid thing called Flixster Collections, which basically tries to be like iTunes for movies, but is way ******** and less convenient.

ANYWAY, the point is, I want to watch it on iTunes. Is there a way to do it? --- I'm pretty worried the answer is no, since I googled it and came back with nothing, but I thought I'd ask ----

I just sent an email seeing if I can get a download code for Drive, and immedietely received some default message "apologizing for any technical issues [I] am experiencing." I only mentioned that I was using iOS decives, but I responded saying that even with the apps I'm still unable to play it on Apple TV like bhirt did and we'll see what they say.

After replying to their email that I'm unable to watch Drive on Apple TV, I got this as a response:

We apologize for any technical difficulties you are experiencing. We value customer feedback like yours and are continually working to improve our services.

Please keep checking back as we have some exciting and new features we will roll out in the future.

We appreciate your patience. Thank you for contacting Flixster UltraViolet Customer Care.

That said absolutely nothing about my problem, and nothing about getting back to me. So I just submitted another ticket and we'll see what happens.

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for being among the first to try UltraViolet™ Digital Copy.

While we have received a lot of positive reaction to UltraViolet, we realize that with any new technology, there is a period of adjustment, and this is especially true around new user experiences.

It's important to us that you are fully satisfied with your purchase. With that in mind, we would like to send you a Digital Copy disc that includes an iTunes compatible file for PCs and Macs as well as a Windows Media file for Windows-based PCs.

Please respond to this email with your name and physical mailing address. The expected delivery time frame is 2-3 weeks from the time we receive your mailing address.

I got a code from them.

I submitted a ticket through: http://support.ultraviolet.flixster.com/ics/support/ticketNew.asp

  • Filled in Name/Email
  • Put in a Summary (something to hte effect of the movies not working on iOS devices and needingthem in iTunes)
  • Put in the Comment/Question that I need the movies in iTunes and that is why I buy didgital copies so that I can watch them on my iOS devices, otherwise I wouldn't buy them... etc...

You may also want to save yourself some back and forth in emails and give them your origional redemption code that came in the DVD/BR sleeve.

  • Filled in Issue Type as "Playback"
  • Device as iPhone/iPad (don't remember which I put)
  • Title as "Harry Potter 7 - Part 2"
  • Rate your Flixster UV Experience: I put "Poor"
  • Clicked the Finish Button.

With a couple emails back and forth for the redemption code, etc. (they were polite and understanding I must say) they sent me an iTunes redemption code that has downloaded the following files:

  1. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 / David Yates [1.77 GB]
  2. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 - iTunes Extras / David Yates [About 0.55 GB]

All in all it was about 30 minutes from the time I submitted the ticket, to when I was starting to downloading the movie in iTunes.

It's dumb that you have to go through this, but at least Flixster was pleasent about it I suppose.

THANK YOU! YOU ARE THE MAN!

Got my email 5mins later (A notice about the ticket support to them) and waited another 8 mins later another email

Worked like a charm following the instructions above. Took only about 5 minutes to get an email with the iTunes code. The only hitch I had is the link Flixster sent me kept giving me a timed out error when I clicked on iTunes. I had to go into iTunes and click on the Redeem link then input the code Flixster emailed me. iTunes recognized what the code was for and started downloading the movie.

With all due respect hjsutter,

that's not the point, the point is that we already manage our media in iTunes, why should we have to have another app to do what is allready possable and convenient. I don't want another app for my movies, I want them organized and managed in the same place as all my other media. The studios need to know that as long as they don't provide options that people care about, then there will be people working around them. I"m not advocating for ripping movies or downloading them from less reputable sites but I can undertand why good honest people due that, it's becasue the studios always try and force their own crap on them. I'm not saying that iTunes is the answer for everyone, infact I think the studios would be wise to offer the movies people pay for in iTunes, Windows media player and Flixster/UltraViolet. Let the consumers decide which one they want to have, they (we) afterall are the ones spending the money, and should have the choice. I prefer iTunes so that's where I expect my didgital movies to be.

I bought my copy of HP7.2 from amazon, and initially didn't get why it said UV digital copy, when 7.1 had a regular one. When I looked into it a bit more at the time, realized I was royally screwed as the whole point to me downloading movies in the first place is so I can watch them on my 5.5-6 hour plane rides cross country to visit family. I really don't want to have to pay 6$ to use wi-fi on the plane, when the streaming speed is ridiculously slow. Add into that the fact that UVDCs are only good for up to 3 years, and then you lose the ability to stream it through their server. So I suppose that unless you download it to your pc or mac or whatever, you completely loose the digital copy you paid for in the first place. WTH is up with that UV? It's completely ludicrous. When I bought HP 7.2, I got the cheapest one on amazon blu ray+digital copy, and then spent the 15$ on itunes and got my real digital copy from them, spent the same amount as if I had bought the combo pack. No problem there, although interesting fact, the exact same disc on amazon uk had a normal digital copy. Only problem was it wasn't released until early december and then it would take a bit to get it here, while shipping was only a few bucks, really didn;t want to wait that long. But all in all, what I am saying is I agree with you, bypass UVDC and just buy it on itunes. Honestly, most people now have a blu-ray/dvd player with the capability to stream from a pc anyway, so then anything you own on your pc you can watch on TV, so why bother with a physical copy at all?

Transfer ultraviolet digital copy dvd to iTunes, not Flixster?
