Double Message Alerts with iPhone 4s.

I don't think this post will last long....but somebody told me that jb fixes the problem.

A solution that worked for me on 4s, I was able to test and prove this between my iPad and iphone.

Settings, sounds, turn Vibrate off (not the one for silent calls)

Exit menu and turn the phone off.

Turn phone back on.

Settings, sounds, turn Vibrate back on, exit menu.

Test from another phone, all should be ok now, was for me.

Hope this works for you too.

I tested this for half an hour, the only way to stop the double tone was by turning off vibrate, turning back on without rebooting the phone just returned the problem, after rebooting the phone and turning vibrate back on all is ok.

It Worked for me and everything is back to normal!

This is unbelievable. I thought they will fix it in 5.1.1, but no, what's the point.. It's only 0.05% of owners that are having this problem... (sarcasm)..

It's not just messages, it's all push notifications and any other sound notifications that are playing the sound twice or sometimes even more times!

This is sooooo annoying.

Again all fixes that you can find online are only temporary. The problem ALWAYS comes back. Sooner or later.

So far I am not having any issue with message alert after updating to 5.1.1 . Been more than 2 weeks

But there is another issue since i updated to ios5, whenever i record a video, the playback sound is almost unhearable. Some of my friends with ios5 are having this issue and some not. Apple hasn't fixed this as well. You are right, Apple doesn't give a **** about small number of customers.

Well, it is very simple. RTFM!

In particular, go to Settings / Notifications / Messages / Repeat Alert and set it to 'Never'

Refer to Kmil0's solution. Go to Notifications, Messages, Repeat Alert, "Never." I just did it so I can't guarantee that the problem solved for good, but it seems sensible to me.

I'm not sure if this will solve everyones problems. What I have found if I turn off View in Lock Screen. Then I don't get the dreaded double tone for that app. Turn it back on I get the double tone.

Reply if this solves your problem. I would like to know if its just me or everyone this helps.

I disabled everything I could. I still get "tr tr tr tr tr tring" occasionally.

I wonder what will be f***** up in iPhone 5.

I'm using iOS 6 beta, and this bug still there. =[

@chgsantos: have you tried the hard restart? Press the power button and home button altogether until your phone restarts. Do not release until the apple image appears (meAning it is restarting). It worked for me.. Been free from the irritating double message tone for almost 6 months now :-)
