Double Message Alerts with iPhone 4s.

Has anyone encountered this problem? And, more importantly, figured out how to fix this?

My iPhone 4s gives two rapid sound alerts for one text message, and I cant understand why. Very annoying.

Hi, I have not posted on this issue in months, but have been too lazy to cancel the alerts. Just an FYI, I did a complete restore of my phone -- not from a backup -- back in October or November and I have not had this issue since. It is important that you don't use a back up to restore. I know that this is a pain, but in my case at least, this problem went away for good.

Hello everybody,

Effectively, it seems to be a Software problem. A quick brief on what happened to me was that after the iOS update on last year (5.0.1), the problem started. 😠

After revision this forum, I made several resets and changes in configuration but nothing seemed to work. I went to Apple store at the beginning of March and my phone was replaced for a new one.

However, some days after, the problem appeared again 😕. I was checking again this forum and I found one comment very useful (thanks gAfaS.gR), who was related to a configuration I have not tried before. The change was in Settings – Notifications and all the applications that were in the notification centre had activated the feature “View in Lock Screen”. I just turn off this feature and the problem stopped with no reset. I made some tests, setting it on (double sound) and setting it off (problem stopped) .

This last week, there was a new iOS update 5.1 with which this problem was solved (as said by Cynx). I set to on the “View in Lock Screen” to all the applications in the Notification centre and the problem was corrected 😉.

Thanks to the Apple development team, but it would be really useful that somebody from Apple’s development team posted something â„č for us (the customers) to know what is going on and if our comments are being checked. I felt a bit of abandoned here. (A constructive criticism for customer service ⚠).

Thanks again!

After every suggestions failed to work out in this thread, I booked and appointment and went to Genius Bar yesterday. They put phone into DFU mode and restore to factory setting. Which means they wiped out everything from the memory and re-installed iOS. The problem was solved, until I came back home and restored my back-up.

They guy says phone cannot be exchanged because it wasn't a major problem which interface anything else.

So, I am still carrying this annoying problem, if anyones comes up with solution, s/he will be owes a big thanks from me.
