Does anybody reading this know how to get someone from Apple to get the answer for us. I am sure there are many users with the exact same problem we have. Is it now only possible by way of a carrier bundle over the air or embedded in the SIM?

My carrier has no clue and says the old code should work on 4S, but obviuosly it doesn't.

Unfortunately it appears you are correct. Something has changed with iOS5 that prevents the maintenance codes from overriding settings on factory unlocked iPhones that use unsupported carrier networks, because the code does work on the iPhone 4s that is bound to an official carrier.

It used to be possible to upload the ipcc file to the iPhone directly, but this is no longer allowed, so it seems until your carrier has a carrier settings file that can be pushed over air we're going to be out of luck.

I can think of one other way to get the ipcc file onto the iPhone, but this method surely be frowned upon by Apple, and currently isn't an available option for most anyway.

I called Applecare and a women said its a known issue.

Actually i try the same exactly code on iPhone 4s, iPhone 4 and iPhone 3gs, all of them with the iOS 5.0.1, and all of them on the same carrier.. The only one that is NOT working, is the iPhone 4s... So the problem is not on the carrier, r better not ONLY on the carrier..

Why do Apple have to make anything that isn't a simple task, so complicated?

Would you change the voicemail button any differently on a CMDA iPhone? Maybe thats what we need to put.

If it's a known issue then let's hope they have a fix for it in IOS 5.1 which should drop sometime in January or sooner.

I just restored my 4S to the lates build of IOS 5.01 (9A406) and it still did not solve the problem, so if this is a known issue as stated earlier in the thread, they sure are slow at fixing it.

Yep, same problem for me too. I'm on BASE too and my old iPhone 4 worked fine but not my iPhone 4S.

I called BASE and they are aware of the problem. They suggested I try *5005*86*+32486191933# but this didn't work.

I have version 5.0.1 (9A405). Which release will we have to wait for to get this fixed?

On a side note, why am I not allowed to have Visual Voicemail?
