set voicemail number in iPhone 4S

I have an "UNLOCKED" not jailbroken 3GS I am using it on Straightalk (Walmart) $45 a month (YEAH)

With Straightalk if you don't go in and tweak your phone...you lose quite a few things like visual voicemail and mms... but.... if you are persistent you can get all the same luxuries of a full on AT&T customer by going in and adjusting settings AND using a google voice # as your phone number which allows your voicemails to be e-mailed and texted to you...COOL...

Alas the final headache was getting that voicemail icon to dial my google voice number instead of my provided straightalk number...

Finally after trying several different versions of the 5005 code thing.... "Dillon From Salt Lake City" provided the golden ticket..

Being as I didn't have the At&t visual voicemail I didn't need to get it disabled as he did..so I skipped steps 1 through 5 and started at #6 below...Worked like Charm! Thanks Dillon! 😉

His instructions were as follows...

1) Dial 611

2) speak to an associate and have them disable visual voicemail for the phone number associated with your device.

3) reboot your phone.

4) open the phone app and click on the voicemail button

5) eventually you will get a message saying that visual voicemail is disabled.

6) go to the dial pad.

7) enter *5005*86*+1xxxxxxxxxx# (xxxxxxxxxx is your 10 digit voicemail access number)

8) hit send. You will get a little loading circle for a fraction of a second....

The +1 might be different for outside of the USA

keep pressing number 1 on dialer and it will call your voice mail !! that's it !!!

Pressing 1 works for the PCCW Mobile network in Hng Kong - them being not the official Apple carrier, them also taking Apple to court for not showing their 4G network in the list of networks.

Apple is acting more and more like the other monopolistic bully of past MSFT!

How to set voicemail call button on iPhone 5S?

*5005*86*<vm># and similar not working for me.

There is always a best and easy solution.

Dail *5005*86*VOICEMAILNUMBER# then call button.

Assume your voice mailbox number is 12345 then dail

*5005*86*12345#

After this press the call button and you might not see any any changes on screen but then if you click on voicemail icon then it will call to the number you just provided.

Tested working to latest iOS 10 also
