You have a point as I am a developer but 1) havent had time this week to check the situation 2) would respect the NDA as i dont want my dev account to be cancelled and have my apps refused!

Clearly B&W dont seem to mind lettings us know of the allegedged progress. I hope it works for me! Apple, on the otherhand, have been shamefully quiet on the topic.

Merry Christmas! No it's not good news. I was very happy to get an iHome iW1 speaker for Christmas and equally disappointed to have it stop playing after a few seconds from my iPhone 4s.

I have to wonder who dropped the ball in testing. Was it iHome's responsibility to ensure it would work with the new iPhone 4s? I think this would have been the easiest integration test possible - try it once - it doesn't work. Maybe Apple should have caught this during (what I expect is) exhaustive testing of AirPlay with the 4s. Whoever dropped the ball here has likely disappointed more people than the ones that took the time to post here.

Apple are you listening? Hello, is there anyone there?

Me too! Same issues as everyone else. iPhone 4S does not work with my Zeppelin Air over AirPlay! iPod touch 3rd gen and iPad 1 (both with ios 5.0.1) work really well over AirPlay with my Zeppelin Air. So does iTunes. I have a brand new Linksys E series router. My iPhone 4S works fine over AirPlay with my Apple TV, but not with my Bowers & Wlkins Zeppelin Air. I am glad to see I'm not the only person with this issue, but I hope they fix it very soon! It's horribly annoying.

Having same problem with daughter's Iphone 4S -- we hooked up new IHome speaker to our wifi network and then tried to stream music from Iphone to the speaker. It plays fine for a few seconds and then disconnects.

By contrast, we hooked up her Macbook to the same IHome speaker through Itunes and it streams flawlessly. And the speaker sounds pretty good, I might add. The materials that came with the IHome speaker say that it works with Iphone, but I don't think it mentions 4S specifically.

I am having a similar problem with the iW1 I just received for Christmas and the airport express I installed a few weeks ago. I spoke with a tech from iHome and I received an e-mail from a different tech as well...they said apple is aware of this problem and has fixed the problem...an update should be available soon. I wish I new what "soon" means, but it looks like us iPhone 4s users will have to wait for the update.

Just figured i'd pass along another me too.

Airplay capable speaker works fine streaming from a computer but 4s has dropouts.

Same issue trying to stream to an airport express.

That was a really great christmas present since streaming directly from an iphone 4s was the main point of buying it.

Hopefully the update with the fix is released soon.

Pretty amazing that this got through the testing process without catching the issue before the iphone 4s was released.

Update - I posted this problem to iHome Support and received the following answer:

Thank you for contacting iHome Support.

We are aware there is an issue with using AirPlay on the iPhone 4S with AirPlay-enabled speakers, including the iHome iW1. Apple engineering is aware of this issue and they have been working to find a resolve. We are happy to let you know that Apple has resolved the issue. An iOS software update will be released in the near future that addresses this problem.

In the meantime, we can suggest an alternate way to use the iPhone 4S to control your AirPlay experience. Use the Apple Remote app to control your iTunes library on a Mac or PC. In this scenario, your iTunes content will be sent to the iW1 via AirPlay and the Remote app on your iPhone 4S can be used to control iTunes playback remotely. For more information, and to download the Remote app visit: http://itunes.apple.com/app/remote/id284417350?mt=8

We appreciate your patience in the meantime.

It's an Apple issue. the 4S doesn't work with any 3rd party AirPlay speakers. But they (Apple) don't care - they are completely ignoring the issue and state that 3rd party products are not supported... here's a link for my post that shows the iHome, the Philips and B&W all have the same issue with only the 4S.

I have done extensive trials since taking delivery of my Zeppelin Air and I find that the initial connection to the ZA via wifi was quite easy and worked straight away. I can play any radio stationusing the TuneIn radio app for extended periods of time (6 hours plus).occasionally the connection may be lost but only as a result of loosing theradio statio stream, when I press play again the broadcast continues throughthe ZA. Which proves the wifi connection between the ZA and the network wasn'tbroken.

It's a different story when I play my mp3 tunes via the 4s music player. The connection seems to be lost randomly.. or maybe not! I find the there are certain play lists the play via Airplay without a hitch but some of my older (maybe) tunes cause the connection to be lost. This is the connection between the ZA and the network! The only way to resume play is to reboot (switch off & on) then restart the ZA so it searches for the network connection and re connects. I have got to the stage where I can isolate a specific tune and when I play this tune I can guarantee that the connection will break. This seems almost impossible that the playback of an mp3 could make the ZA lose it's connection with the network but it does it every time. I have quite a few tunes that cause this outcome. The problem I definitely with Airplay or the 4s or both.

The same tunes that cause the problem however, play without problem when using Airplay through my wireless laptop (Toshiba Satellite Pro XP pro). I've played all tunes extensively through iTunes on my laptop and to date have not lost the Airplay connection once.

No doubt tunes purchased from the apple store play perfectly but we all have old cherished mp3's that we transfer to our phones and for some reason this maybe where the problem lies??? After purchasing the Zeppelin Air for £499 from a HiFi dealer, for the specific reason of controlling my music from my pocket I'm upset to have to return it. Especially as the problem seems to lay with Airplay. After reading extensive complaints on the Apple forum it doesn’t seem to be just the Zeppelin Air, in fact it seems to be with every wifi Dock and speaker setup on the market, which reinforces the argument that Airplay or the 4s is where the problem lies.

I have the same issue with my 4s and a Zeppelin Air. Hopefully we won't have to wait too long for the update to fix it.

Meanwhile, there are work-arounds....

You can (as stated by others) use another device to stream your music. Older iPhones, iPads, some iPods, Macs and PCs.

As all my music is now in a cloud, using iTunes Match, I'm using my iPad as a media player, controlled by my 4s using the Tango remote app. That way I can control what I listen to, and still use my 4s. It's not ideal, but it works well.

Fingers crossed for an early update 🙂

THX Eddie

It helped a lot. I can now using my iPhone 4s to control my Zep. Air.

Anyway I would be more than happy if apple will solve the problem and I could use my 4s without the remote app.

Interesting to share is, that apple Germany is not aware about this eventhough that apple (US?) is working on that issue. Hope they do and the next update will provide all airplay functions with 4s w/o difficulties. It is a mess - you have all devices available but they do not work togehter!!!
