Unusual data activity on my AT&T bill

Can anyone explain this type of usage on a 4G iphone:

9/21 7:16am phone Internet/MEdia Net Sent 24KB

9/21 7:18am phone Internet/MEdia Net Sent 8KB

9/21 7:21am phone Internet/MEdia Net Sent 8KB

9/21 7:50am phone Internet/MEdia Net Sent 3KB

9/21 8:03am phone Internet/MEdia Net Sent 8KB

Nine more every few minutes @ 8KB then:

9/21 10:31am phone Internet/MEdia Net Sent 1248KB

Then from 11:06am-12:39 there are 9@8K 9@8KB

9/21 4:26pm phone Internet/MEdia Net Sent 292KB

9/21 4:38pm phone Internet/MEdia Net Sent 8KB

9/21 4:41pm phone Internet/MEdia Net Sent 8KB

4:45pm Same 8KB

Then back to 3KB-14KB every few minutes starting at 5:33pm till 7:34pm. Total of 51 posts every few minutes.

This isn't much data, but it is a lot of activity. This person denies using the internet, but this has stopped since I mentioned it.

We also went together to AT&T with the phone, but they could not tell us what data was being used. Unfortunately, the history had

been deleted and everytime I've checked. Can anyone tell me what this might be or if they have seen it on their AT&T bills, please.

That's so much data. If you look back at my original post you'll see that my data usage is small but logs every minute or so for a few hours at a time. I had printed over 100 pages of this usage from 7/11-10/11. It has stopped since I brought it to the attention of my husband, We have updated his phone around the same time, so was it his usage or was it the phone?

I'm still not at peace with the fact that it is the phone only because of the history being deleted on his phone, which he admitted to. If he's not using the internet somehow, then why would he feel the need to delete the history, "just to clean things up"?

Does he have the setting to send diagnostic and usage data to Apple checked (Settings > General > About > Diagnostics & Usage)?

I've noticed recently that I reach my limit earlier and earlier in the month. At first I thought it was because I switched streaming music services, but I realized that wasn't the case. I too am having late night/early morning charges. They are absolutely absurd. I'm talking 200,000 KB to over 400,000 KB occurring hours after I've gone to sleep. What is going on with this and how do I make these numbers go down? After I hit the 2 GB monthly limit, AT&T severely decreases my data speed. This is not fair as I am not using this data at the times specified. It's been hindering my workflow and ability to do everything the iPhone should allow me to do (e.g. Multitask). My last bill shows 17 different times that data exceeding 100,000 was transferred.
