Ipad 1 slows down after installing IOS 5

Adter installing IOS 5 my Ipad 1 slows down considerably. Apps take time to start and especially the writing is so slow that I actually I cannot use the Pad anyomore. I udgraded only because I could not update imoorstant apps (keypad, pages) anymore with the old operating system. But this is no solution. Anyone elseexperiencing this problem or am I the only one?

"Solved" for slowness is a very vague term. It depends on the usage. If the user is into heavy multitasking, the iPad WILL be slow, and apps WILL crash. The 35-45mb of free ram from iOS 5 is barely adequate to support more than 2-3 moderately intensive apps(or hardly 1 highly intensive app, let alone hard-core 3D games).

If you can remember the iPhone 3G, it was also doomed like the iPad, except it was with iOS 4.

The only solution for these users implementing heavy multitasking is to downgrade. However, there is no "authorized" way of doing so unfortunately.

Disabling iCloud and notifications will help minimally. You are disabling core features of the operating system in return for barely 5-10 mb more of ram. Not at all ideal.

I hereby declare that my Ipad, first generation, 11 months in age, has undergone upgrade to 5.1 OS.. It is now as good

and indeed better than it was.

It is excellent.

I followed much advice contained in the messages in this long standing forum.

The local Apple Store was very helpful.

And I have no connection whatsoever to the Apple Corporation!

And only use apart from this Ipad, a P C with Windows Seven and an oldish Ipod touch.

The iCloud and Notifications are all functioning.

This is what I did and it works.

1. Turn off iCloud.

2. Go to setting - general - reset - Reset All Settings.

After it finished, you'll get the set up screen like you have a new iPad, and I choose 'set as a new iPad' instead of restore from iTunes or iCloud. And then I got my iPad back, with all the data and apps intact, and it works well. No more lagging and slow typing.

Either they made a mistake/typo and updated to 5.01, or actually have access to the 5.1 beta that is currently being tested. Hopefully they are running 5.1 and we can expect further improvements. 🙂

iOS 5.01 is fine for me, but there are definite moments of lagginess (not many crashes though.) But I only recently got my iPad, so I don't have much experience to compare to.

Deeply regret "upgrading" iPad 1 to iOs5

~ took hours to perform

~ apps didn't initially work

~ iTunes took a day and a half to sync 7000 songs

~ songlist, album covers etc showed up once then disappeared

~ resyncing again to see what happens

~ 4 hours and counting!!!!!

~ don't like Safari tabs at all - pls revert to previous

~ is it going to take me hours / days to sync very time?

~ how do I go back!!!!!
