Ipad 1 slows down after installing IOS 5

Adter installing IOS 5 my Ipad 1 slows down considerably. Apps take time to start and especially the writing is so slow that I actually I cannot use the Pad anyomore. I udgraded only because I could not update imoorstant apps (keypad, pages) anymore with the old operating system. But this is no solution. Anyone elseexperiencing this problem or am I the only one?

6. Deleted almost all notifications.

7. Turned off iMessage

8. Cleared the history and cookies in Safari

9. I've also read that if you wipe the device totally and resync to get your apps back it makes a big difference.
