Why cant I put a profile picture and a status on game center?

I had the same problem. But I fixed it easily. My account had a glitch where it took my game center username and pass only not my apple id. Also when I deleated apps and removed them from game center it didnt work. So I tried loging in with my apple id it made me make sure the settings were right and when I was done I could do the pic and status. And all my games on my iPod were there not the ones I deleated. I think you have to use an actual Apple ID email for GameCenter, because my brother has an account with his Apple ID email, and it worked for him. But when I use my email, a place to use a picture didn't even show up.

A profile pic and status didn't appear on my sister's account. I realised that she logged into game center with a username. When we tried to log in with her apple Id, it had no game center account associated with it. So if you don't mind losing your achievements (high scores will be saved), you can Log into game center with ur apple id, and create a new account. If u like ur old username, rename ur old account. After that, my sister got a profile pic and status. Hope this helps. I'm not sure it will work for everybody.

It can't be something with the age because I don't have status bar and pic thing but my sister is under 10 and she has it and im over 10 but don't have it

In game center on Mountain Lion, the account picture is also invisible. So it is not due to iOS version. Maybe caused by age after all. I created the account for my son with his actual age. No picture.

I have a feeling that the reason that this is not working has nothing to do with age or gender. I'm beginning to think that it has to do with the email host you use. I've done my research, and I haven't found a single person that can get the picture/status who has a gmail account. Does this sound likely????

I hope you're right. My main email account associated to my apple id is a Google Apps hosted domain (@vanbregt.net) and my son indeed has a primary Gmail email account @gmail.com. I'll test to see what happens if I change my son's email to one at my own domain.

I turned 13 in July and thought that it would work by now.I just updated it to Io.6 and nothing happend! I must figure this out please help me!😢

Ok... It is impossible to do this without changing your account. I believe it has something to do with Game Center accounts that were created prior to the ios5 (but not always, I guess).

IT HAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH AGE, GENDER, EMAIL, DEVICE, CORRUPTED FRIENDS, GAMES THAT YOU HAVE NOT PURCHASED BUT HAVE THEM IN YOUR GAME CENTER, JAILBREAKS OR HAVING POINTS WITHOUT HAVING ANY GAMES IN THE ACCOUNT!

So, I recommend you to create another account and use it just for the Game Center. Make sure to make it on the newest ios, or at least version 5.

If you don't have any purchases, you can also use this new account for everything (I'm not sure about how icloud would behave, though, if you already have one set up for it), but since I do, I didn't want to lose it and so I just made another one to use the game center with it.

Yes, you will lose your data, but it is a tradeoff between having photos, public profiles and now (with ios6) facebook connect to find friends, and having your old data (and also, some games have a way of syncing with the gamecenter in a way you won't lose anything - just tested pocket frogs, though).

I hope this explained things. I've been in this dilemma since Oct 28 2011 and I really don't think apple will fix it (or even can fix it).

Ps: and there is no possible way in the world of merging two accounts!! or even deleting one, but you can make it unusable, disable credit card info from itunes, make a fake email account so you can put it there so that the e-mail address you used to the account you don't want anymore can be reused (instantly, without having to verify any e-mail confirming you changed your account!!!).

I'm using a @mac.com account and still no picture...so I don't think it is a host problem.

Right so first of yes this is extremely annoying! I am having this same problem but basically if you we're using Game Center BEFORE iOS 5 (when it was in technical open beta) then you will not be able to use the status post of profile icon features. This is due to the fact that these features were only added in iOS 5. So if you had it before these features were released then you will not be able to use them - which yes I grant you is stupid and very unfortunate for any Apple 'Geeks' who have to sign up for that latest apple thing straight away - my friends are not geeks and so did the usual thing of leave it a few months see if anyone actually signed up then sign up themselves. IT IS NOT A HARDWARE PROBLEM - IT IS A SOFTWARE GLITCH IN THE GAME CENTER UPDATE FOR IOS 5. IT CAN NOT BE RECTIFIED BY ANY WAY OTHER THAN RESETING YOUR GAME CENTER PROFILE - This will delete all scores, leaderboardes, achievements and friends.

Yes it is greatly annoying but we a its restricted as to what we can do!

How can I tell if my Apple ID has a photo associated?

Hi, I have had an iPod since ios4 and recently upgraded to an ipad4 as my iPod broke and are having the same problem however I am over 13 and still can't Chang my photo or status I think it has to do with the ios5 update due to my friend making an account with gamecenter after the ios6 update and it works.

Just wanted to say that my younger sibling and I had the old Game Center on our older pre-iOS5 devices and when we switched over to our new devices - iPod Touch Gen5 - our Game Center accounts/profiles showed the new one with the profile picture option and such... and YES, I was able to successfully swap in a photo for my profile and change my status, etc, and view all the new features I didn't have prior.

That said, I don't think it necessarily has to do with how old your Game Center account is.

I inherited my older device from someone who upgraded to a newer iOS device and when they had the older device, they had Game Center running on it since it first came out and they, too, were able to go to the new Game Center without any trouble just like I was able to.

How odd!

Just for the record, my old device was an iPhone and the other older device was an iPod Touch and both of our OSes were 4.X (I can't remember exactly what).
