How do I change my iCloud account on my iPhone

I know i'm not the only one who ha the same prb out there, and I read a lots of stuff in the different discussions, but I want to make sure, so let me ask:

my wife and I share the same store account, and somehow when I set up our two iPhones, her iCloud account got attached to my Apple ID. Which obviously is not good, since we don't want to share all contacts and appointments, etc...

So, I just what to change her iCloud account from my apple ID to hers. How do I do that?

I am thinking to delete that account (settings->icloud->delete account), but i want to make sure this is not gonna wipe out all her data.

Also, I read somewhere on the Apple website that once you have attached your device to an iCloud account, you have to wait 90 days before to be able to change account. Is that true? Or deleting account will do it?

Thanks for your help.

I believe that the icloud and old mobileME is natively tied to the appleID and that's the whole point and you will never be able to separate that tie

but I could be wrong

@Gail: That doesn't seem to agree with what the manual at https://sites.google.com/site/imkapps/mytifi/icloud-en says:

Share your Settings between multiple iDevices.

Did you have a hard job on configuring all your Smart Channel button and logos on your iPhone?

Just download myTifi on your iPad and those settings will be synced instantly.

myTifi will upload the following data to the cloud:

  • your User Settings
  • your Smart Channel configuration and network logos
  • the In-App Purchase for the Upgrade to Full Version

When you have multiple devices, the settings are retrieved automatically.

If you change 1 setting or Smart Channel on 1 device, the change is automatically synchronised on all other devices. Within seconds!

Your data is linked to your free iCloud account and stored forever

.

But I hadn't studied the full details before, which it seems are different for iOS 6 and 7 (and we have one of each). I'm really not going to bother. The iPad, which has all the channels set up, is more convenient to use, and if necessary I can use the iPod as a remote without having all the channel buttons set up (channels can be switched the usual way, without using the smart channel page with the logos, simply by entering the channel number on the app's screen). That being said, it would be interesting to know if there is a way to get access to the file on iCloud which the manual assures us does store the information, and transfer the info that way. I could of course follow the principle:

If all else fails, contact the manufacturer for advice.

That last piece of advice worked! The manufacturer referred me to the process for manually backing up the app's settings (see https://sites.google.com/site/imkapps/mytifi/manualbackupsmartchannels-en), which you can use if you don't have an iCloud a/c, but is equally good if you want to do a transfer between two devices with different a/c s. The method is to use a free application called iExplorer, which is able to access files on your device. You connect the device to your computer, whereupon iExplorer displays the files on the device. You can then copy the files you want to transfer to the computer, connect the other device to your computer, and then copy the files back to the iExplorer window, and away you go (I've left out some details, you have to be sure to do it right).

That's a bit odd, though -- you are supposed to be able to access files on your device with iTunes, and add new ones. The app manufacturers for some reason haven't set the app up to make them available with iTunes, so you have to use iExplorer to access them.

The instructions were posted on page 6 of this thread. Here they are again:

You need to delete the iCloud account, but in order to do so, you will have to follow these instructions:

1. Log onto Manage your Apple ID and change your Apple ID back to the ID that is showing on your iCloud account (this is temporary, so do not verify it - just click Done when you have changed it)

2. Go to Settings>iCloud on your device and scroll to the bottom to delete the iCloud account. Type in your current password when asked, then answer the prompts until the deletion is complete (the account is only being deleted from your phone, so when you sign iCloud back on, all of your info will re-sync to the device)

3. Go back into Manage your Apple ID and change your Apple ID back to your current Apple ID

4. Go back into Settings>iCloud and sign into iCloud with your current Apple ID

You should be all set.

Hi farisrusli,

You will not be able to delete the previous owner's iCloud account yourself. You must have the previous owner do that:

Find My iPhone Activation Lock: Removing a device from a previous owner’s account - Apple Support

If you cannot contact the previous owner, then you should return your device for a refund. There is no way to remove an Activation Lock that you have not activated yourself:

Here's how I did it:

Settings> Mail, Contacts, Calendars> iCloud (this had the email account that kept coming up in iCloud)

Tap on "Sign Out"

You will be given the opportunity to delete the account .... do it

Now go back to iCloud and you should be presented with a screen to login to your iCloud account. It will create an iCloud email account for you.

Was the obsolete email address the Apple ID on your current Apple/iTunes account, or did you set up a new Apple/iTunes account with your current email address? We can fix your iPhone issue, but the solution is different depending on which way you answer the question above. So, if you let me know which one it is, I'll provide instructions to get the old iCloud account off your iPhone.

Cheers,
