How do I change my iCloud account on my iPhone

I know i'm not the only one who ha the same prb out there, and I read a lots of stuff in the different discussions, but I want to make sure, so let me ask:

my wife and I share the same store account, and somehow when I set up our two iPhones, her iCloud account got attached to my Apple ID. Which obviously is not good, since we don't want to share all contacts and appointments, etc...

So, I just what to change her iCloud account from my apple ID to hers. How do I do that?

I am thinking to delete that account (settings->icloud->delete account), but i want to make sure this is not gonna wipe out all her data.

Also, I read somewhere on the Apple website that once you have attached your device to an iCloud account, you have to wait 90 days before to be able to change account. Is that true? Or deleting account will do it?

Thanks for your help.

I believe that the icloud and old mobileME is natively tied to the appleID and that's the whole point and you will never be able to separate that tie

but I could be wrong

Hello :) My daughter and I are currently sharing an iTunes account and an iCloud account (with the same Apple ID). We both have a 4S with the latest iOS. I would like my daughter to have her own iCloud on her phone, but I'd also like her to be able to continue using my iTunes account if possible. We have thousands of purchased songs that we both like to listen to on our phones. Any advice as to how to make this work would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Popsicles,

You can set up a separate Apple/iCloud/iTunes ID for your daughter, and still be able to share the same iTunes library (my husband and I do):

1. Go to Manage your Apple ID and set up a new ID for your daughter

2. Sign off your old ID on your daughter's phone under Settings>iTunes & App Store, then sign on the new ID

3. Go to Settings>iCloud on your daughter's phone, scroll to the bottom and delete the iCloud account. If you want to save the Contacts on the phone, just say yes when prompted. All of the other messages are warning messages and tell you what will no longer be accessible via iCloud when the account is deleted, then sign on the new ID

4. For Messages, you will probably want to scroll down to the Send & Receive section and change the addresses associated with Messages to the new ID's email address

5. For FaceTime you will probably want to Sign out the old ID and sign in the new one, and will also probably want to change some of the "You can be reached at" info

6. On your computer, sign on the new ID into iTunes, and under the Store option in the top menu, select Authorize this computer so that the new ID is authorized to download and play Music in the library

If you are using iCloud Mail, then it will change to the new ID once the iCloud account is signed on

If you only want to set up the Apple/iCloud/iTunes ID to be used in iTunes, then you would only need to follow Steps 1, 2, and 6.

Or, conversely, if you only want the Apple/iCloud/iTunes ID to be used for iCloud, Mail, Messages, and FaceTime, follow Steps 1, 3, 4 & 5

I'm faced with a similar but slightly more complicated problem. I have a nice app (myTifi) which lets you switch channels on a paired TV just by touching the icon for the channel you want to watch, so you won't need to look up the channel number. You have to set this all up by hand, entering the channel number and name, and selecting a suitable icon, for each location on the screen, so it is a fair amount of work. However, the information is stored in your iCloud storage which in principle allows it to be easily copied on to another device that you own. The snag, as I realised when I tried it is that the transfer will only work if the two devices use the iCloud account, and changing iCloud accounts is a risky process.

What looks as if it would work would be for me:

* first disconnect app from iCloud in its settings

* then delete my own account from my iPod, choosing to keep the data on the device as you say is an option, or I'll lose it

* change iCloud settings deactivating all options (I only want to get the app's settiings on my wife's iCloud, which setting is done from the app not from iPod's settings menu).

* log on to my wife's account

* turn on app's iCloud setting, telling it to fetch its settings from the a/c, then disconnect app from iCloud. It should then have a copy of my wife's settings

* delete my my wife's account from my iPod

* switch back to my own iCloud account, restoring iCloud's settings so it will again back up the data I've been keeping on my iPod

* Finally, I tell the app to start using iCloud again, choosing the option to back up the settings now on the iPod to the a/c, so they are now on my a/c as well as my wife's.

Does that make sense? It rather looks as if it would be simpler, and certainly less risky, to copy it all manually! But it is an interesting thought experiment.

I'm not sure I'm following you. What do you mean you want the app on your wife's iCloud account? iCloud only stores backups of apps. The Apps themselves are in iTunes, and they can be backed up there as well. Does your wife have a device that you want the app on? Are you looking to update that app and keep all devices updated with the changes?

Can you just state what it is you are wanting to do, and we can see if we can help.

Sorry, it's not quite that. I had no trouble copying the app, and also upgrading it with an in app purchase (though irritatingly that caused the data to be deleted). The point is that there are settings that are saved on one's iCloud a/c, so if both devices are linked to the same iCloud account the data can be transferred from one to the other. The question is what can be done if the two devices are linked to different iCloud accounts.

Since writing I've been looking into another option, i.e. hoping I can access the file on the internet. Documents and Data are enabled on my iCloud a/c, but if I log on I do not see a corresponding icon. Is there any way I can access the data so I can copy it over to the other a/c?

Possibly there's a problem with the app as it seems not to be listed in iPod settings > iCloud > Documents and Data. Should it be?
