Windows 7 64bit Photostream Problem

Hi,

I have installed the windows iCloud Control Panel, all installed OK.

When I open the control panel it says

applephotostream.exe has stopped working

It will then not allow men to set up the photo stream.

I guess it is either an X64 problem or conflicting with something, I've installed it about 4 times no....

Can anybody help????

I have been having the same problem with win7 64 over the last week, and I found DropBox on PC to be the problem. Once I uninstalled this all was OK with Photostream.

I uninstalled both dropbox & icloud, then restarted and then installed icloud via itunes "check for updates" in the help section.

I am sure there is other reasons and software causing problems in icloud... but this worked for me.

Good luck!

I had the same problem a week ago on Windows Vista x64 and I fixed it. The thing is that I believe ApplePhotoStreams.exe crash because the iCloud storage has an error on the photo storage. The steps (that I DID) to fix this are the following:

1. Close all your "upload" applications like Dropbox, SkyDrive, iCloud Control Panel (log off), etc.

** on iCloud Control Panel deselect/unmark the option "Photo Stream" and then log out.

2. Once you close all your apps, download the iCloud for PC software, execute and clic on REPAIR.

3. Take your iPhone and plug it to the computer and make a backup on iTunes.

4. Select the option "Wi-Fi Sync on this device" and Apply changes.

5. Connect your iPhone to your Wi-Fi connection, and go to Settings / iCloud / Storage & Backup / clic on "Back Up Now" (I'm assuming that you all guys have the option "Photo Stream: ON"

6. Wait until your backup is done.

7. With this step your iCloud backup and storage will be UPDATED correctly.

8. Open Windows Home / Control Panel / iCloud

9. Log in with your Apple ID

10. Select/mark the option Photo Streaming

And that's all, your Apple Stream services (ApplePhotoStream.exe and ApplePhotoStreamDownloader.exe) SHOULD NOT CRASH and should work fine.

I hope this help you guys. Greetins.

I had the same problem up to 3 minutes ago.

I too run win7 64bit and have many cloud services running (evernote, dropbox, sugarsync and more...)

I found this to help fix this immidiatly.

Log into icloud.com

click on your name in the upper right corner.

Select Advanced and “Reset Photo Stream”.

This fixed my issues and I was then able to open Icloud again from the control panel without the ApplePhotoStream.exe failure.

Enjoy

I was having this problem also, and running Windows 7 64-bit. I finally found that by turning off another Windows Exploror Extension, the problem went away. I was using the extension called "StExBar", and I turned it off by enabling Menus in the Explorer Window, and going to "View->Toolbars->StExBar". Unfortunately, I love this Extension and use it all the time so I am going to contact the developer there and see if they can help.

If you are having this crash, you might try disabling other Windows Exploror Extensions/Toolbars you have and see if turning one of them off solves the issue. It is likely a bug in either StExBar, or the iCloud/Photostream Client, but I don't know which. I suspect the iCloud Client.

I am so sick and tired of this problem with my icloud. Why hasn't Apple rectified the situation yet? I've tried everything including unistalling and reinstalling icloud. Yesterday, Monday, my photos stopped syncing with 'photos' on my desktop which is where my photostream is supposed to upload to. What the heck is the problem? The photos on my iphone do go to the photostream but it won't sync on the computer. I am so frustrated!
