My apple tv won't recognize my apple id

Everytime I try to sign to my iTunes store on my Apple tv it tells me that my apple id or password is incorrect. This is the only apple id I have ever had. I did change my passwor on October 13 after multiple probles with my mobile-me to iCloud transition. I have had my apple tv for over 6 months, so I tried both my previous Apple id password (as well as the new one) but it does not accept either of them and even though I have homesharing "On" it doesn't do me any good.

Also, it will not do the software update to 3.4, it tells me my software is up to date. I reset apple tv yesterday and started from scratch to no avail. No problems with my iMac, Macbook Pro, iPad2 or my iPhone, only with Apple TV. HELP!

I was running into the same issue. Then I realized I was using two-factor authentication with my apple ID, which, after entering my apple ID password on my apple TV, my other devices provided a 6 numeric character code that I needed to enter. There wasn't any place on my apple TV to enter this code. So, I logged into appleid.apple.com, turned off two-factor authentication and am now able to start up Home Sharing on my apple TV. Just be sure to turn two-factor authentication back on if you want the extra security.

Last nite we had company over to watch a movie that I attempted to rent for $5.99 from iTunes using my Apple TV. It would not accept my password for my Apple ID. After several embarrassing attempts in front of a roomful of people, I went to Amazon Prime and rented the same movie for $3.99. You guys had better figure this out as more people will do what I did.

No I have not purchased anything from the iTunes Store from my apple tv. My new password has numbers and letters and one Capital letter. The problem is also that even though under "Computers" it shows my iTunes library, when I try to play music, it says there is no content to my library and as I mentioned before, I have homesharing on all my devices and no problems with any of them except Apple TV.

Thank you so much for helping me. I really don't know what to do. I was thinking of resetting it again to factory settings and start from scratch. By the way the store location shows correctly United States and on time zone my correct city.

Again, thanks for assisting me. Any ideas, should I reset to factory settings.

My internet provider is Time Warner and have a modem and router and a WPA password and yes using DNS but have my own settings to a wireless network. Yes my iTunes personal info matches my billing info I am constantly buying music, books, apps and software and without problems sharing it with my other devices.

I am actually not trying to by anything through my Apple TV, I was just trying to make sure all my library music, photos and such is available on my Apple TV. I subscribe to Netflix and have no problem with that on my Apple TV.

Should I reset to factory settings, since my problems started yesterday when I tried to upgrade the software?

I thank you for your advise in advance.

Sorry, you are right, I'm jumping all over the place. I went and rechecked and my ISP address and info is been supplied by my provider.

The reason I ended up going to the iTunes store on my apple tv was to check and see if it would acknowledge my password, but I am not trying to buy anything trough the Apple TV. I just wanted to be able to see my library content as I did before this attempt to upgrade, which is the first to tell me my Apple ID/or password was incorrect and it just went downhill from there. I wanted to be able to mirror with my iPad 2.

I hope this will clear up all the fog and will allow you to assist me better. By the way, thank you so much for your efforts.

I tried to just restore my Apple TV and it gets hung up on setting date and time. Just circles around and around and around.... Apparently all settings and fixes mentioned require the ATV's date and time to be set! I tried to log into iTunes in settings and it flat out says " try again later". Of course this is after I just typed in Apple ID and password like 10 times!!

Did you get any solutions to this ongoing issue, besides chicken sacrificing?

Hello,

So I discovered that it might have been a problem connecting to the internet because there is a required username and password to connect to the network which could not be entered in AppleTV. However, after fixing this issue and updating the AppleTV, it will still not show up on my computer (Airplay does not show up).

Any suggestions? Is this still an issue with the firmware that I need to go to the Apple store for?

Thanks.

This is the second time I have this problem and the second time I found this forum. I think I remember the problem, and it has to do with the port. I cannot log into the itunes-store even. I just have to call support tomorrow and get help again. I tried many of the other advice here, and those did not work.

It is weird they still have this problem. So tired of writing my password over and over.

This is absolute rubbish from Apple - long forgotten their customers.

I have tried every suggestion on this forum - none has worked. I know my ID and password are both correct as they work on everything else.

Although I can't get into iTunes via Apple TV 3, I can via my iPhone and if I access movies, I can AirDrop them to Apple TV.
