Alesis iO Dock & Apogee Jam -iOs 5 Killed garage band on iPad 2 - iFail.

Agogee Jam and Alesis iO Dock not working

The problem Im getting with the Apogee Jam is looks like its all working fine with no ear phones plugged in.

As soon as I plug ear phones in it dies and switched to the Mic on the Ipad.

I need to do a reboot of Ipad 2 to get it working again but plug in ear phones same problem...... iFail.....

With Alesis im getting pop and cracks in recordings and when I change Amps it just goes nuts and I get a crazy fuzz sound thats very loude and distorted....

Gotta re start to make work again.

Iv got a booking today with the Apple shop to see if I can sort it out.

Im going to try and go back to iOS 4 on the Ipad (Get a new with it on it I hope)

Hi

This is maybe a iPad (3) problem ?

You could make a Garageband test session without the iO Dock, maximum tracks, loops, load etc. And see

If the same thing happens.

Rolf,

Good idea, and your right works fine a little bit hotter than the ipad 2 i think i could a combination between use and charging at the same time maybe a good thing for alesis to make a firmware update where there is a option to enable/disable charging when docked.

By the way another thing did occur again i record directly fron a line6 vetta II amp into the IO Dock with use of the audiorecorder in garagband sometimes its starts cracking again when the monitor switch is on same problem as in ios 5.0, very frusting because the times when it works fine the recording made are great.

H@rry,

I experienced the notoriously famous "cracking" noise as well and here are a few tips that may help to avoid it.

On condition that the lastest software updates are installed on the both devices, disable WiFi and Bluetooth, close all apps, also the settings app, switch off the iPad , not stand-by mode.

Plug the iPad into the iO Dock and flip the switch on the iO Dock. The iPad will boot from there,

start GarageBand, your done. This worked for me and I had no problems ever since.

If you stil have a cracking noise, check your amp line output and iO Dock input levels and set them at a lower level.

Dial in the correct level until the noise disappears. This is a typical digital distortion due to inapt volume settings (overload)

The iO Dock is still the best device I got my hands on lately and with the aformentioned few steps performs flawless.

I hope this helps, good luck

Rolf
