Iphone 4s Takes Pictures Upside-Down???

My iphone 4s takes pictures upside down even if I hold the phone upright (home screen on the bottom). Is it just a glitch in the phone or can I do something to fix it??

Has anyone else had this issue??

iPhone 4, iOS 5

I'm pretty sure that is just one of trillions of glitches, as my own **** experience With faulty Apple equipment continues... if you try to get hep you'll be left very dissatisfied and frustrated and maybe 1-2 hours on hold at the help desk.

Ohhhh, maybe that's why they have these forums, so those that are denied support have a hope to get help here. I'm thinking you're never going to get anything but a headache. :( Apple doesn't care, why do they call it 'Apple Care?'

Good suggestion. I was an early poster on this topic and followed most of the 22 pages of proposed fixes.

Apple has been aware of this problem since October 2011 and released several iOS updates since then. If I were Cook, I'd be really upset that my customers had to resort to a $.99 app to fix an obvious problem with my $650 phone. Jobs would not have let a problem like this last so long.

Oh, it was a pretty ridiculous bug. Give the user a convenient new feature, they use it, then all pics are upside down and you don't even realize it.

If you have quick time pro, you can open a video and then export the video as an MP4 - that will get if right-side up.

I'm now aware of a video+ type program that would work. Maybe Camera+ will incorporate video at some point. If someone knows of a Camera+ type option for video. In the meantime, I'm gonna try to hold the camera with the volume buttons pointed down if I am shooting video.

Your 'solution', like all others before you is a bandaid on a head wound with a gaping whole, gushing out blood.

I'm not championing Apple or claiming it is not a bug. It is a ridiculous bug and should have been fixed long ago. But, this is far from a bandaid. If the iPhone camera did not have this problem, I would still use Camera+. It is a nice app. So, basically, I just take pictures the way I normally would (with Camera+) and I have no issues with upside down when I view pictures in Windows.

This is not a work-around for using the Camera. This is using Camera+ and not having any issues whatsoever - no blood gushing. Terrible analogy. This is a rock solid solution acutally. My user experience is smooth.

Downloading an app WHICH YOU HAVE TO PURCHASE most certainly is a workaround. Especially since I bought an iPhone for its features that should have full functionality. I shouldn't need a workaround. I hate workarounds. That's the company's job to make it work and making it work would be very easy for Apple. Camera+ costs $.99. Do you work for camera plus EK?

Have I had this issue on my iPhone 4? Yes. When I upload photos to Yahoo's archaic web creation software, the photos are upside down. However, I also email photos to various people, people I know running windows, and they tell me the photos come out fine. Personally, I use a mac, so obviously no problem there.

I like Apple and their products, but frankly this is an embarassment. Hold the camera as they tell you, post the pictures or send them to some windows based machines, and the EXIF data reports the picture upside down. No official word from Apple? I could almost understand it if they issued a statement something to the fact that all the other PC makes are using Exif tags incorrectly or something, but silence is just rude and disrespectful. Which in my experience (except maybe for the "death grip" issue) is not like Apple.

My bad. I was exaggerating to clarify my point. Maybe I should have said it's like a bandaid being used instead of getting 10 stiches.

Apparently nobody cares about this issue because apparently the nearly 70,000 views on this thread are made up of a few of us constantly hitting refresh to see a response to our posts, but even if it was 70,000 individuals, it doesn't compare to the milliions of units sold and none of those people are here complaining about it or else there would be more that 23 pages and 70,000 views...

btw, is camera+ accessible via the lock screen, or do I have to go and open it like any other app on the phone, therefore wasting precious time?

Going to Apple Feedback, the Apple Store, and calling Apple Support has produced no solution. Please join me in writing:

As stated before, Apple has a very small percentage of the worldwide computer users. Having to hold the 4S upside down or use third party software to rotate pictures/video so that we can send them to non-Apple users is unacceptable. It is apparently Apple's way of making everyone buy an Apple for all uses while forgetting that 80-90% of the world does not have Apple computers.

Himz. Oberoi, chs24, and others apparently do not have problems because they are 100% Apple and have no friends/acquaintances that are non-Apple users.

Please refer to my comment on page 6 about writing to Tim Cook, CEO of Apple (and his address). To Apple's credit, I got a call from the Apple exec offices within a very few days of sending my letter about the picture/video problems. The person who called me was extremely courteous and helpful. She waited on the line until an Apple engineer came on the line. However, the good news stops there. The engineer was unaware of the problem. After being shown this discussion forum, he essentially stated that "Apple was simply complying with the industry standard". His position (and I guess Apple's) is that there is not a problem. Amazing!!!!!

You can write all you want here and on Apple Feedback and NOTHING is going to change. Strongly suggest writing directly to Tim Cook and voice your displeasure. If enough people write with the same problem, maybe the Apple engineers will finally believe there is a problem. Again, attacking each other will accomplish NOTHING.

It is sad that a third party can write SnapBot (which seems to work well with pictures), but Apple cannot write an app to solve the issue. Any experience with SnapBot with videos??

Don't complain, write a letter (not an email) to Tim Cook, Apple CEO.

Sorry but I had to repost Sgflyr's two previous posts above.

The more important questions in this whole fiasco is how many of you have written to Tim Cook. I know for certain 2 of us have. Anyone else? If not, this will never get fixed beause Apple don't participate in these threads...

how much precious time would you be wasting? 3 seconds? did you not use the stock iphone camera before it became available on the lock screen? you know because it wasted precious time to open it.
