Factory unlocked iphone 4s???
If I buy a factory unlocked iphone 4s from USA, will it work on Indian GSM networks without any problem?
I mean, without having to unlock them illegally.

I'm kind of on the opposite end from most of you people with issues with iPhones in India. I had sent an iPhone 4S, 64GB from US to a relative in India. As you may know, in US Apple hasn't started selling the official unlocked phones yet. I had bought it as AT&T off-contract and unlocked using iTunes.
Anyways, my friend in India so far has not reported any issues with it. I haven't had a chance to talk to him in detail yet due to his Diwali vacation, but it seems he has been using it with his Vodafone SIM without any issues.
Aman you should confirm with tech support as i think customer care won't be able to say any thing about that im sure they will say yes it will work in india but it will not as i have the same issue i bought iphone4s from canada apple store unlocked and im not able to use it here and tere are few other guys to having same issues with phones bought in canada so its better to talk to tech support or the genius guys at apple store.
I think all of us have the same kind of phones. Off contract, unlocked with iTunes. These are sold by resellers as factory unlocked ones. But anyway they are suppose to work anywhere around the globe.
It looks like some of the phones work in India and some don't. You're friend's phone luckily turns out to be one that works I guess !
hey kaushal did u do a restore in itunes before sending it to india
No, just removed the AT&T sim and turned it on using T-mobile SIM in iTunes. No restore.
Btw in another news, just received an email from Apple Developer web: It seems iOS 5.0.1 beta is out now 😉.
"iOS 5.0.1 beta is now available on the iOS Dev Center. It introduces a new way for developers to specify files that should remain on device, even in low storage situations."
Hopefully, this will address your problems 🙂.
"We just installed the iOS 5.0.1 beta on one of our own iPhone 4S' and noticed that the baseband firmware also gets a version bump (indicating a bugfix of some kind) from 1.0.11 at release, to 1.0.12 in the iOS 5.0.1 beta. "

This should bring you guys happiness.
What the **** is wrong with Apple?
I'm shocked at this. How can a phone be shipped when it doesn't even work?
Samsung does a better job then that.
jayesh .. can you use this link .. enter ur iphone serial number and paste what you see in the Production week line ? Mine says Production week: 43 (October)
data speed is sweet but a phone without texting/calling is not a phone. it's an iPod Touch with 3G
hey man thanks for the link, it says Production week 42 (October)
