Factory unlocked iphone 4s???

If I buy a factory unlocked iphone 4s from USA, will it work on Indian GSM networks without any problem?

I mean, without having to unlock them illegally.

No one said you are annoying. Look at the previous posts. Was talking about people who were criticizing us for the high price we paid.

Anyway, same here. Been waiting for the call from the senior guy for two days now. But in my case he confirmed it's a hardware issue and said it needs to be replaced. He said he'll call back to let me know if I have to send it to US or they can arrange and bring a replacement phone here. Still waiting.

Guys .. i bought 2 iphone 4S from UK and was using them on 3UK. when i was there . Apple Store clearly told me that these are factory unlocked devices .. the model numbers match the ones found on the apple online store..

Now one iphone 4s works fine but the other one is no not showing any bars in the signal area but shows Airtel , Vodafone , Cellone and data works. calls and messages are not working ..

is it a hardware issue or a software issue. it was working fine in the uk though even with a o2 simcard

I spoke to Apple Tech Support and they told me to send my iPhone 4S back to UK for replacement, and hence I've despatched it to a friend who will do the needful and ship it back to me here. But after reading varunkrish's post I fear even the replacement might have the same problem.

Please also note that this is not a widespread issue. I know of two people who also bought got their 4S from UK to Mumbai and are NOT facing any issues at all.

We have only two options now a) there is a software update from Apple resolving this issue (hopefully) or b) Apple India replaces these handsets for us (very unlikely because Apple Support does not accept/repair iPhones bought from another country even if they are within warranty).

If both these fail, then I'm afraid we are stuck forever.

Guys!! great news. Apple US directly approached me , the technical team called me and surveyed me the problem we are facing. i told them each and everything like we are able to use 3G service but are not able to make & receive any calls, i also informed them the some iphones from australia 7 ireland are working fine.

i have also send them a snapshot of my iphone showing no signal bars and have explained them everything.

Some sort of joy.. it has been confirmed that its an software issue with baseband. As phones manufacturerd for USa 7 canada were tested in North America only and baseband was prepared according to that frequency.

99% it will be solved through an software update.

More joy. Apple is coming up with an IOS update 5.1 next week and they sincerely want to resolve this issue in that update. Its not an hardware problem in any way. Its CONFIRMED to me by APPLE USA.

They asked me to keep posting on this forum the details i get from them so that you guys are informed ab\out the progress.

They said the apple is best and will prove best in services and hopefully we will enjoy unlocked iphone 4s everywhere in world irrespective of network.

Guys wait till i post the next info received from Apple directly.
