Update my 4S to 5.1 and the network issue just disappears. So it indeed was a software issue and nothing related to different types of Micro Sim cards, Sim Pins, etc etc

i have upgraded to 5.1, same problem. i put my nokia next to 4s, network coverage(3G or 2G) bars are full and stable but 4s changing and changing. it is not network issue, i am a telco engineer. by the way, the devices should support network not the opposite. so, there is something wrong with 4s.

why it is not writing 3G when attached to 3G network. only when data session used on 3G writes 3G. but might be i am using 3g network for call but i can not see it.

why 4s does not support video call via 3G network? If somebody tries to make video call to me, it faills as 4s does not support?

why i can not force to atatach to 3G only and prevent attaching to 2G? the toggle is sommething like to use both.

teh signal level is not stable, so it is jumping from one base station to other and consuming battery more than normal. it is totally device sw problem as nokia phone does not have such proble in the same place.

can apple ceo hear about it and hire some professionals from nokia, ericsson to fix such kind of problems?

I have replaced the phone upgrade to 5.1, still same problem.

it is not a network issue as i put my nokia next to 4s in the same plance, nokia is stable while 4s is not.

hi arjun6 did you finally manage to unlock your iphone4? i want gift one from USA to my sis who lives in mumbai but i am wondering if it will be possible for her to unlock it there?any one please reply in case you bought an iphone in usa or UK and managed to unlock it sucessfully in india??? if yes, then which service provider should i buy?at&t?

Brothers just buy the iphone from apple store without contract and commitment! They are all unlocked by default!

I think, if you cannot see any logo or sticker of any Network providers on the box front or back, then it should be factory unlock.

Generally, if you buy at&t phone, you will see At&t sticket behind the box or somewhere.

Ok guys a couple of things to try to get ur iPhone 4s working

1. Update to 5.1 as this update fixes no sim, invalid sim, network drops and battery issue. I have hand first hand experience on this.

2. After updating go into general- reset and reset all network settings. This will delete all wifi setting ie passwords etc and all networks setting too incase u used a wrong one. It Will not delete ur personal data.

3. After this identify whether its an unlocked 4s or locked. Try a variety of sims and carriers it's the only way to know for sure.

4. If its unlocked u shud recieve signal and all shud be good, incase if one provider doesn't work changing sim to a new lot shud work. (or worst case ur iPhone is defective likely unlikely though.)

5. If its locked there are 2 options

The best is to buy a gevey sim unlock for 4s. This is a small chip like device which fits into the sim tray with ur sim card and it unlocks for iphone to all carriers.

The 2nd option is to wait for untethered jailbreak and then install ultra snow and u shud be golden

Were you able to fix the problem i too just bought an iPhone 4S from USA and here tried the Airtel and Vodafone Sim whenever i switch on my iPhone it takes alot time to search the Signal it keep searching then it says `no service and then agian searching then comes the signal, 3G or eDGE both works fine once the signal is catched by the iPhone.. I am on iOS 5.1 suggest something please ..

I'm from Russia. I bought iPhone 4S in USA. MC920LL white 16Gb activated 11.14.2011, on the back side of the box AT&T logo. My SIM is from MTS operator (RUSSIA ). I use MTS sim in USA and here in Moscow. Does my iphone unlock factory ?

You're hosed. AT&T will not unlock iPhones for any reason. If you're currently using it, it's been hacked. You can not get help here per the Terms of Service.

Can anyone confirm me that unlocked IPhone 4s purchased online from Apple website US will work in India?

Please confirm me and guide me procedure over how to use it. Do I need to visit apple store after they ship iPhone to me.

The US Apple store will NOT ship outside the U.S. In order to purchase one on line, you must have a credit card with a valid US shipping and billing address. All iPhones sold through legitimate sources in India are unlocked. Just save us all the headaches and buy one there.
